Opinions on SAK combo cap-lifter/can-opener?

I've never found the cap-lifter on SAK's particularly useful, but the can-openers have always worked pretty well. I recently saw a combo cap-lifter/can-opener on Victorinox's Hunter lock-blade SAK and it looks like a bad compromise between the 2 tools. It looks like it may especially limit the can-opening capability. Anyone ever use the combination cap-lifter/can-opener tool on Victorinox's SAKs? Does it work decently opening cans? Thanks in advance.

The combination bottle/can opener on the Hunter dose not work nearly as well as the standard Vic. opener, but it dose work. It is O.K. when nothing else is avalible, but I would bring another opener if I knew I had cans to open. I have found that the hunter's opener works best cutting away from the tip (clockwise), this is the opposite of what I use with the standard Vic. opener.
BTW, I prefer the Wenger and Leatherman openers, with the beak shaped points to the Vic. screw driver tipped openers.

I have to agree. This blade is a compromise to save space and should only be treated as an emergency opener. However, I prefer the opener on the other Victorinox models over this one or the Leatherman/Wenger style. The standard Victorinox opener seems to cut the can a little easier.

I have never used the can opener
on a standard Vic. Just by looking
at it I can't really tell how it
should be worked.
Could someone give me an explaination?

There is a drawing showing how the Vic. can opener is used, at Pizzini's site:

(click on "Swiss Army Knives" then "Swiss Knives Funktions" and scroll down).

The sandard can opener cuts by working towards the tip (counterclockwise), while the combo opener as found on the Hunter seems to work best when cutting away from the tip (clockwise).
