I have a chance to get a discontinued Spyderco Knife that has been embellished by Santa Fe Stoneworks. Normally, I don't go for such knives. I tend to prefer tactical folders that are highly pragmatic. But I must admit that this company seems to do a fine job.... Key word being "seems."

Since I've never owned a knife embellished by this company, I have no idea how durable their work really is.

Could someone who owns a Sante Fe Stoneworks knife please tell me how durable their work is? Does it scratch easily? Is it easy to chip off? etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have an older Santa Fe Stone Works knife, a Camillus with wood scale on one side and m-o-p/turquois on the other. The quality of the custom work is top-notch. I expect the durability would be the same as any other pearl-handled knife. It's not micarta, but it's not going to fall apart in your pocket either.

Good Luck,
-Bob

Santa Fe Stoneworks has been doing excellent work for us for the past 20 years.

I got to see some in person last year, and they were stunning!! Beautiful work!

I have a Spyderco Delica that was worked over by Santa Fe Stoneworks. Black Jet with Paua (abalone) inlays and silver spyder. Beautiful knife. I just got my hands on a Kershaw Leek with the same Black Jet and Paua inlays. A matching pair if you will. Gorgeous knives. SFSW does excellent work. I was able to visit their store a couple of years back when I was living in Albuquerque for some training. Very impressive work.

Thank You to everyone who contributed so far to this thread.
Not one negative word from anyone, not even the President of Spyderco.

Must admit, I'm impressed. Thanks again, guys!

Here are a few pics of my Spyderco Delica and Kershaw Leek with Santa Fe Stoneworks embellishments. Sorry for the poor pics, I didn't use a tripod.

Delica. This is the one I take to Outback Steakhouse. I use my own steak knife. I like to eat with style.

Santa Fe Stoneworks is a neat little shop. I always love visiting to see what they have there; beautiful knives!

I have a spyderco cricket with Mother of Pearl & jet.

They have told me that if I drop it or scuff it up they will fix it for free.
