was wondering what everyones opinions on the company Shrade is? just picked up a older PH1 made in usa thing is like brand new. only reason no pics is because i wasnt sure if you had to be gold to post pics or not.

The OLD Schrade were of very high quality. My friend who has been a knife dealer forever always said he sold 2-3 Schrade to 1 Buck Knife. He was talking about the Schrade Bear Paw vs. Buck 110. The Schrade was always easier to sharpen and held a better edge. I have several of the old schrade and they are very high quality knives........................The New Schrade are not worth the materials they are made of. I bought a small LB5 and was very unimpressed. I compared it to my dads USA LB5 to the China LB5........There was NO Comparison. USA All The Way....! If you want a schrade, spend the extra few bucks and buy a vintage USA made one, you will be better off in the end.

The Imperial-Schrade Corporation made knives in a number of brands of various quality. In my experience: The "Schrade" brand knives are very good, as are the Old Timer and Uncle Henry lines. The Imperial brand was a mixed bag (depending on age, origin, and model) and ranged from pretty good to terrible.

Although my focus is on Old Timer knives, I have a PH1 and PH2. Build quality is excellent, although I don't know offhand what the steel is. It's stainless, and could be some sort of 440 or 420 depending on the age.
