Ok good people, I am looking a getting my first multi tool since my original supertool. I have narrowed it down to the 2 previously mentioned above and would like your opinions.

I choose these two because I want it to be under 6 oz so many of the leatherman products will not work. I want a blade, saw, scissors, and Phillips/standard in addition to pliers. If you know of something else, let me know.

It will be carried both alone and combined with larger folding/fixed. Please share your opinions and pics if you have any.

Thanks

The spirit is the better tool in almost every category. Better drivers, better scissors. The penalty is going to be in weight, and cost. My math puts the Vic at 8.6oz which is pretty heavy compared to the Juice. Really it comes down to the tools, and the weight. If you are looking to really use those extra tools often, then the Vic is probably the way to go. If you are looking for a nice and light tool, with some just-in-case stuff, then I'd go for the juice, since it will be the more comfortable carry.

Hope that helps a bit. the trouble is finding a saw and scissors in the smaller leathermans, and Vic doesn't do a small pliers tool yet.

Used the spirit a lot these days. I cannot recommend it enough. Comparing it to my other tools, it stays this way:
Lighter and more ergonomic than my Wave, ST300, Original Super Tool, Ganzo G202 and 301, Swisstool
Stronger than my Juice C4, Gerber MP400, Wave (at least it feels that way)
More versatile than all those, the Micra, the Squirt PS4, the Dime, my most useful MT just next to the Wave and on par with my Swisstool, but much slimmer and easier to carry than both of these

If I could only carry one MT for the rest of my life, it'd be the Spirit or the Wave.
You can't go wrong with the spirit. I don't know about the Juice CS4, but the Victorinox is a sure bet!

Small correction: the Spirit weighs 7.4 oz.

I was reading on multiple web sights that it was under 6 oz.

Not their fault, but that is a weight Knifecenter got from Victorinox specs, which is incorrect. For years, this error persisted, despite numerous messages to the company from myself and others that the weight spec was wrong. Finally, they got around to fixing it on their lit, but numerous copies of their old spec sheets are still out there, spreading misinformation. The correct weight is 7.4 oz. That's what a Spirit weighed on my accurate scale, and also at the post office, where I took it to corroborate.
Beats me that a Swiss company, of all people, would let pass something like that and not move quickly to correct it.

The Spirit is lighter than a Wave but heavier than the Juice Cs4. In my opinion, you're not going to beat the Victorinox Spirit/Swisstool models. They have only have two multi-tool models with different variations for years. They don't constantly make new multi-tools every year for a reason. The Swisstool/Spirit tools are perfect. It has been said many times before that all multi-tools are compromises and that's true. And in my experience, the Spirit requires you to make the least amount of compromises. The screwdrivers on Leatherman tools (especially the bit driver on the Charge/Wave etc) are better than the ones on the Spirit though. This is because the Spirit has highly polished tools. You will never have a problem with corrosion on the Victorinox tools but I have had rust problems on Leathermans despite keeping them protected with my Tuf-Cloth

no worries on correcting me, I did a google conversion off the vic site, grams to oz. maybe they include the sheath? It bothers me not. Now we all know more than we did. Thanks for the correct info, znapschatz

Get the Spirit X. It is superior in every way. It is larger than the CS4, but the Spirit is definitely worth the extra weight. The Juice line (CS4 specifically) has a few shortcomings.
