I've searched but didn't really find a whole lot of reviews of the BK-7, so I came here looking for opinions of the blade.

I'm looking for a general camp knife, and since they don't make a BK-2 in 3/16ths ;) I'm thinking the BK-7 would be the one I want.

I already have the BK-2, I like the knife I just find that I want a bigger blade since I don't own anything in the 6+ inch range that isn't a machete, I'm looking for a bigger knife that can handle splitting bigger logs, I considered the 9, but I don't really need a chopper since I have a machete for that, I'm looking for more of a general, all around knife that can handle anything from whittling to splitting logs, and everything in between.

Basically I'm looking for you all to help me continue my addiction to Beckers :D any opinions or experiences with the 7 are welcome.

IMO.....The BK7 is the most under-appreciated of the bunch. It's a beautifully sculptured knife. And function follows form.

l like mine. The BK-7 was the 3rd Becker to join my collection. It fills the niche of the venerable USMC combat knife but it is much more stout and rugged. It's a large knife but not too large. I think it will do anything you need it to do.

It's the only BK knife that's so nice they named it twice!!!! BK77!!

I've got a few of them, I like them a lot better than the BK2. Very fast and nimble in the hand, feels alive.

I miss mine! I gave one to a friend because I wanted to get him into Becker knives with the plans of getting another but I ended up getting another BK9 instead! Lol now I'm out a seven :o

Ethan designed the BK-7 as a replacement for the USMC Combat/Utility knife. He did a superb job. It is easily the best balanced of the Becker big-blade series and takes the USMC combat knife concept to a new level with an excellent clip point blade, full tang, and extended pommel. I'd have absolutely no qualms about carrying it into combat (where 99% of your knife chores are very mundane - cutting rope, chopping small branches, cutting banding & strapping material, carving up MRE boxes, playing mumblety peg, etc.)

Here's a gratuitous and completely unnecessary comparison shot:

My second Becker, it's an outstanding chopper, the best I own for most tasks short of my CS kukri machete or Condor Boomslang. I liked the stock handles but made micarta scales. The sheath was OK until it started coming apart, but it has been riding in a SpecOps sheath, and I'm waiting on a custom sheath for it. Might be something better out there but, in my opinion, few for the price.

The 7 was my first Becker, bought it for camping as well, between that and my trailblazer buck saw I'm covered.

The 7 is a cool blade, I didnt like the long ass clip point though so I ground it off...Think slimmer and shorter BK-9 or long BK-10. No pics yet since its still missing the pins.

I just got my first seven, well actually two of them. Both are Camillus made & surprisingly well balanced. I'm kinda wishing I had gotten these sooner. Probably my favorite or maybe second, next to my 10. But like I said I just got em and need to put them to work.

Over all I like mine. I ground the thumbramp down level with the spine. Aesthetically I wish the point was higher and more BK-17 ish. I either need to get a soldering iron and stipple the handles or break down and buy 7 (ouch) sets of micarta handles as I find the handles are slick.

I've had a NIB Camillus BK7 in my safe for several years. Just couldn't bring myself to scuff it up. As a result, I've been missing out on using a sweet knife. So I just bought a pair of new BK7s, one to abuse, and one to hedge against my world changing faster than I want it too. I haven't got any brush time with my new 7 yet, but I completely agree with the "alive" comment. It's a very nicely balanced knife, that fits in that "not too big, not too small" category. I've already sort of got my bases covered with a BK2 and BK9, but I think the BK7 just might shake out as my new favorite. I'm not wild about the sheath, so I may be shopping for a nice replacement.

To the OP who's looking a 6+" do-all knife, I don't think you could help but love the BK7. Is that enough nudge? :)
