Posted this in the review forum then remembered that there is a Chris Reeve forum here so....What do you owners think of them? Any pics after years of use?

I have a MK VI on the way and wonder what some of these knives have went through. Thanks for your interest.

I have a Tanto 1 (9"blade) and a Shadow III. I like them both but have not put either of them to any use so don't have any comments on how they last but CRK's have a standing rep. of being tank tough and it should serve you for many years. I just have way too many knives and my CRK's don't seem to get grabbed much. Lately, the only knives I have been using are Norwegian, Swedish, of Finn knives...all cheap and all great knives.

A search will probably turn up a lot of old threads on them. They are hard use tactical style knives. Suitable for just about any task in the woods from field dressing game to chopping wood. They are not delicate slicers meant for kitchen work. They cut great in most mediums. But anytime a thicker hollow ground blade moves through stuff, it requires more effort than a thin flatground knife. Thin flatground knives break easy doing hard stuff, so match the knife to the job. I do not see Reeve knives as sharpened pry bars, but they are thick in the spine, and not a class A kitchen knife. I tend to like the larger 5 and 7.5 inch models. They fit the jobs expected of a knife that size quite well. Reeve also makes a dedicated skinner model.

Mike990, sums it up very well. I've been using a Project II for years but just had it totally overhauled so it looks almost new. I've just bought a Shaddow III and Project I because I like them so much. The larger ones are best in use as they make the best use of the overall concept.
Projects: Outstanding blades for soldiering, adventuring, survival or just hard work. Very tough knives with very sharp edges that give good deep cuts. Not overly heavy but still with enough oomph to chop with. Too many additional plus points to list. There are very few knives that can match the overal performance/package without giving up one or another advantage.

However, they are a specialists tool, and few people realy need such an all terrain knife and even fewer will find themselves in a position where this knife's qualities makes all the difference. But then again if you do own one then they are a real pleasure: for they are the best of type.
