I was wondering why you don't hear much about them. It seems like I hear mostly about the Satin or Black crinkle coated finishes but nothing about the double cut finish. Why is it called double cut?

Actually I would have to disagree. The Double Cut finish is easily the most talked about on the forum. You can probably do a search and come back with at least a dozen posts with opinions on durability and such compared to others like the desert tan.

Double Cut gets it's name from it being a two step process as opposed to a single pass on the finish.

the next busse i buy i plan on getting the dc finish. looks good and has really held up well on my mofo.

Thanks for the reply. I did a search but I really didn't find that much, nothing helpful aleast. Not saying the info isn't there, I was probably just scanning to fast.

I'll dig up some of the posts and give some links later tonight.

Double cut has become my favorite finish..

My HOFSH will be double cut finish, it’s so long ago since I ordered it I’ve forgotten the handles I ordered for it. ;):D
Ian.

I like it a lot. Basically the DC finish is so called because first a satin finish is applied and then a fine ceramic bead blast is applied (NOT sand blasted). This peans the steel and thus the DC is not susceptible to the increased oxidation risk associated with most bead-blast finishes.

It is definately my favorite, I order all my knives with it, the finish is much easier to keep looking good.

:D

I have a force one with the double cut finish that I have been using and abusing for some time now... looks like new. a couple of times I thought I scratched it, but it cleaned up with a scotch brite pad and some soap... way harder then the desert finish on my outlaw...

Well I got my SF NO with double-cut finish and snakeskin micarta handles from Fedex today. You guys are right, It is a nice looking finish. I can't wait to test it out. I wonder if I could send it back to Busse to have the Magnum handles put on it.
