I have fallen in love with the look of the Mcusta Katana knife series, but i have yet to try one out as i donot know anyone with one nor do i have the $180+ to toss on a knife that i know little
to nothing about. so i would like an opinion from anyone that has one. what are the pros and cons? what (do you think) is it best suited for, use wise? is it worth the money? how is the steel?
thanks!

I have one in black/blue and like it.
F&F is good to excellent (which is true of most Mcustas). Very smooth action.
Some may find it a fit gaudy, but I think the black/blue looks good and makes a nice change from normal mono colored handles. You've "fallen in love" with the look so obviously you like it.

$180 is MRSP, you should be able to find it for ~$115.

I think its a bit more robust, and possibly larger, than the usual "gentlemans" knife, though it could fit in that category. Should handle light to medium duty with no problems.

sweet! thanks for the info.. $115 is an excellent price! hopefully i can find it for less on "cyber monday" this year.

Mcusta makes some of the nicest knives in the production knife industry. Top quality components and and the fit and finish is excellent.

Mcusta makes a good knife, for sure! I really like how they do a more traditional tanto on the Katana model. Admittedly, I don't own one. I wanted to try out a Mcusta and my decision boiled down to the Katana, Mari and Yoroi--I went with the Yoroi (I'm luke-warm on the colour combos offered on the Katana and I think that the one-position pocket clip doesn't really flow with the aesthetic.) The Yoroi is a beautiful knife and if the quality is any indication of the brand, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

That's a very odd blade shape for a knife called the "Katana" made by a Japanese company...

Great Knife!

I have the black and purple one and it's very high in my edc rotation. Great fit and finish, smooth as silk.

If you can find one, doubtful for $115, buy it right away and enjoy.

K.K.

wow, it seems everyone has only the best things to say about these knives and the company! i dont often see hamon lines on pocket knives either, which is a nice touch imo.
hamon lines add a touch of beauty. the ONLY thing i think i may have a problem with are the teflon washers.. i think i'd replace them with phosphorus bronze washers.
