So I've been a little intrigued by the polestar. I'm curious what others opinions are of the ergos compared to a tenacious. The tenacious felt a little too narrow at the back end of the handle for me, the polestar looks like it would be much better. Is the large cutout for the lock felt in hand? Is the edge thickness similar to a tenacious as well?

How would you describe the overall feel and impressions of the knife relative to other spyderco offerings?

Just get a Byrd Raven 2, it's basically the same. Just cheaper, different g-10, but the raven 2 does have teflon washers.

I pretty much agree. The Polestar is nice but it's no nicer than the Raven 2. I have both. Of course the Polestar doesn't have a choil. The lock cut out is not an issue when gripping. I think edge thickness is similar to the Tenacious but it's been awhile since I owned one.

I wrote down some of experiences with the Polestar for Nemo's Knife Reviews. Have a look!

Your experience with CTS-BD1 is interesting, because I had the same problem with that steel in one of the earlier UKPK's. The burr would just keep flopping back and forth, never breaking off. Eventually, I had to put a steeper angle on the edge. It was still an issue from time to time, but it wasn't as bad as when I first got the knife.

I didn't know about the raven 2 (I don't keep up with what's out there like I used to), surprising it also has bd1. I like the looks of the polestar better. I'm not too fond of the comet hole or a choil. The g10 color looks a little different which is nice.

I haven't had any experience with bd1, what would it be compared to? Is it a noticeable improvement over 8cr?

After a few sharpenings the BD1 is holding up fine. I have too little experience with 8cr to make a valid comparison.
