Not sure why I'm just now looking at this one, but I'm really digging the look of the Benchmade Presidio. A bit bigger than what I normally use, but that's not a big deal if the knife is great.

So is this one of the more popular models? Just want to hear some opinions from people who have owned it.

I have like 5 or 6 520's and 3 525's and a auto 520(forget the exact model #) and a auto large Presidio II with most all variations of satin or black blade and plain or partial serrated edge ---so you can say that I'm a fan but have been lately carrying a 908 drop point Stryker.

They are well made and tough but heavier than most like to carry---never been a problem for me though.

I had a mini presido...it got sold because it was on the heavier side, and im just not a fan of thick handles either. Hope that helps if you havent had one in hand.
The friend who bought it, loves it tho...so to each their own.

I have a Presidio (auto). The previous 2 posters commented on the weight - mine is 5.6 oz, which doesn't bother me. I like the knife; but I prefer the Rift.

The 520 Presidio is my favorite Benchmade. It is large and very tough but not huge. I have bigger hands so I tend to like larger folders, though. I find the handle is extremely comfortable when using it for heaving cutting tasks such as bushcraft or cutting thick materials. The most controversial aspect of the 520 is the grip texture. I love it, it stays put in my hand, but some people have talked about how it can damage some pants pockets. I did start to see some wear on some of my jeans pockets after carrying the the 520 every day, for over a year. The 154CM on my 520 took an edge easily. They stopped making them in 2017 but they made them for over 10 years, so finding them shouldn't be a huge task. I hope this helps.

This thread sucks without pictures...

The Presidio 2 is my favorite Benchmade knife. I love how it feels in hand, and it's built for anything you could ever do to a knife.

It's also dense AF, but I don't mind weight on my folders.

Mine too as far as favorites go. If I have a criticism, it may be a bit heavy for modern knives these days. I bought it on impulse at a knife store when it was first released and I have not regretted this purchase for even a moment. It is basically my favorite size for a modern knife.

Yeah. On the one hand, I don't know that the aluminum handles add much over G10 to the rigidity or strength of the handle, and they definitely make it heavier than it needs to be, but on the other hand I love knowing that I could probably use the knife handle as a hammer without it being too much worse for wear.

There was an ongoing thread about a NYC knife choice and I suggested the Mini Presidio II. With the tapered edge on the back of the knife, it is next to impossible to grip the blade to shake it open unless perhaps you use a pair of pliers. It is a tough knife as far as I'm concerned and I like it's simplicity. But if you are determined enough, it could probably be opened that way.
