Considering this model for my next purchase. I have a small stockman cocobollo & a carved stag bone gunstock. What are your thoughts on the Whittler? The handle shape is what I find interesting. Thanks for your comments.

My favorite whittler pattern, I especially like it because of the d2 steel. I have 2, one in CBS, and the other in the brown delrin.

The other Queen carver I like goes under the name Oar Carver. It's Queen d2 in a canoe style handle. Two models available, 1 with two wharncliffe style blades that are the same size, and the other with two sizes of blades.

I really use the heck out of the Oar Carver for whittling and woodcarving.

I might be a lone dissenting voice, but I bought a Queen Whittler sight-unseen solely on recommendations here, and I wasn't exactly overwhelmed.

It's a finely made knife, don't get me wrong; the bone stag is sweet, and there's nothing like D2 steel..

So, what didn't I like? Well... it's too *dainty*.

I like whittlers because the main blades are nice and big and sturdy. The Queen whittler is about the size of a Schrade 340OT Middleman, and the main blade isn't all that much more substantial. The tang is plenty thick, but it's ground waaaay down. Too much, if you ask me.

But, hey, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. :)
