I have a SOG Seal Pup that ive never used for anything.

Anyone put this knife through some use and can give a good review?

I have a Seal pup elite and its pretty similar,as i know only blade steel is different, mine is aus 8.

The knife iself is a good allrounder design,i was doing everyting with this knife on the field, splitting wood, chopping down small trees, food prep, making shelter. My overall impression thatu can do anything with it if you narrow down the edge angle butit wont perfor as a buschraft knife cause its too "tactile". I replace my son with a fallkniven f1 cause it ca serve my needs much better.

the 2 real withdraw of theknife is the weak tip (for utilitarian use), and the useless spine "serratins".

My seal has the nylon sheath and i used the molle straps the place the knife on my gear and its come off and i lost the knife, fortunately i found it later, except thi accident the sheath is a great design IMO.

Hope it helps

Cheers

I am not usually a big fan of sog knives, but I love my seal pup. I use the knife for all kinds of things and it handles it just fine. My only problem that I have with it is that the finish on the knife came off way to easy, like I would cut rope and it would scratch the finish. Sogs did say they they could sand blast the blade to give it a more even look but I never sent it in as it was not really that bug of deal to me. Also, I have never heard anyone else have this problem. Overall I think its a great knife.

The Seal Pup is a very solid design made from so-so steel. It's a good self defense/fighter but for daily use and abuse aus8 falls short by today's standards.

Had one in the past and foolishly sold it. I'll probably pick up a Seal Pup Elite to replace since they come with a plain edge.
