I'm new to the forum (at least, I was only lurking) and also thought I'd take this chance, being my first post, to say hello!

I was curious about what you thought about the SOG Vision. My dad managed to get a great deal on his 20th anniversary edition Vision with ATS-34 steel.

How he got it and my impression of it:
We owned a shop and somebody brought it in to sell (we were very busy with a bunch of other customers at the time, and we would have to look it up after we finished with everybody else), saying it was a gift, but he wasn't really a big fan of knives. Generally, we looked up all items and give the customers a fair price based on what they're worth, but he said that he needed to get back to work soon, and just asked for $10 towards a pack of cigarettes. My dad wasn't necessarily very into knives, but he was in need of a replacement, so he figured that he'd just buy it and keep it for himself, since it was in good shape and all.
A couple years later, we looked up the knife to find out that he got a great deal. Of course, he used and abused it. Normal tasks as well as tasks that you generally don't give a knife, such as some light prying and I believe he used it as a screw-driver, once..

It held up well. It wasn't very hard to sharpen, held its edge pretty well, etc.
I was taking a look at it, recently, and decided to clean it up a bit and see what I thought of it.

Honestly, it seems like a very solid knife. The titanium handles are smooth without any grippy feeling to it, though it isn't slick and my fingers don't slide around while using it.
The size is nice, and it's comfortable in the hand. The jimping on the thumb ramp is nice. The action is great, in my opinion! It is very smooth with almost no resistance. Being a 7 year old knife (20th anniversary was 2006), the blade is still perfectly aligned when closed. The arc-lock is pretty fun to play with, and you can easily and effortlessly open and close it with one hand, just with the arc-lock. Again, the action is very smooth, and opens nicely even just by pulling the lock and tilting the knife to let gravity move the blade.

On the newer Visions, I am not a big fan of the logo etching, but I feel that it looks good on this one. The newer versions also seem to have the clip slightly hanging over the end of the knife. (Also, being only able to look at one side of the new version, I am guessing that the pocket clip isn't ambidextrous, like this version?)

If the newer Visions perform anything like this one, it's a pretty great knife for the price! ($179.95 at Knife Center and $155.99 at BladeHQ)

That's my opinion of this knife. Anybody here have any opinions (good, bad, or indifferent) of the Visions, new or old?

I have a Night Vision, black G-10 handles. Very nice knife. The guy might have stolen the knife if he parted with it for 10 dollars. Even cigarette addiction would not explain that price.
