I haven't seen the Spydercard mentioned too much here in the Spydie forum. I just wanted to ask for your opinions from those of you who may carry one. I'm thinking of getting the 50/50 combo Spydiecard next week, along with the FRN Native PE.
What are the pros/cons of this knife? Your info is appreciated, thanks.:D

I bought a NIB Spydie card 50/50 a few months back 'sight unseen'...actually, it was pre-9/11, and I bought it for 'air travel'...that was then.

My thoughts? It's a super well made 'knife', and has a ton of 'gee-whiz' factor...everyone that sees it just coo's over it.

It came factory shaving sharp, and has a large blade surface...very cool.

All parts fit smooth and flush, and it's easy to open/easy to close.

But, it's 'funky feeling' in the hand...because it's flat and squared, it's difficult to get a comfortable grip.

Again, it's totally trick from a mechanical engineering standpoint, and makes me smile everytime I 'play' with it...and yes, it's a knife, it's sharp and it cuts well...but it's just 'funky' shaped.

So, if you 'just have to have one', and haven't already ordered one, email me for details, and if I still have it, I'll cut you a break in price via sale or trade.

Whether you get it from me or somewhere else, you'll dig it..it's cool, funky, but cool...lol

I thought it was cool but didn't like it overall. I found it to be a little to thick and awkward to hold. I didn't really like the AUS-6 either. If you really want one though, I would get it.

The spydercard is a brilliant design to fit a knife into a CC sized wallet. First and still the best IMHO

It is true that since 9/11 it has less appeal, as I too don't carry it on board anymore like I used to...

BUT - in day to day life - it is the one knife you will have with you at all times - no matter the level of clothing you have - hence the best Last-chance-in-the-ditch knife you will have.

Get one - for the price it costs you can’t go wrong.

Better yet - get one for your loved one too - lots of room for engraving there...

Thin and flat, the SpyderCard can be carried comfortably in a wallet or back pocket. It's a brilliant design. If you don't use your knife a lot it could be your main blade, or carried as a back.

Thanks for the input so far, you KnifeKnut freaks.;) Please feel free to keep them coming. I do plan on getting the 50/50 here pretty soon, and I'd like to hear some more accounts where the Spydiecard has come in handy. :D

I have the plain edge, and you may be better off with plain rather than 50/50 because that blade is only about 2.5".
It works well for push cuts and the point is good for fine work. I use it for food. The hole is nice and large, and its width makes it easier to open than other small spydies. It's a good way to carry a sturdy blade without overcrowding your pockets. I carry it in an old wallet with misc. items.
If I'm mugged, they can have that one rather than my cash, credit cards, licenses, etc.

I like it a lot better than the Tekna Security Card I had when I was a kid. Remember those? They were so loose they rattled in your pocket. The Spydercard is a little awkward, but locks up solid and is SHARP! I used some double stick velcro tape (buy it at any police supply) and mounted it in my car under the stereo. It's not visible at all to the naked eye, but every once and a while I push my fingers under there and it plops in my hand. I keep it for cutting seatbelts in an emergency, but never forgot a day I had in East New York Brooklyn about ten years ago when some scumbag tried to force his arm into my partially opened car window...

Well, I ordered the Spydercard 50/50 and the Military PE last night, should be in sometime next week. Thanks for the tip, undersigned, it gave me something to think about on where to put the card.

Waiting is the hardest part.

Well, the Spydercard is perhaps, the BEST knifecard I've ever come across. Excellent handling and blade geometry. Its also very affordable.. Just one thing though, since the finish is bead-blasted, its porous surface tends to stain. But no worries, just dab some liquid polish and your woes are over! I have a Spydercard in my wallet that is engraved at the Spyderco Factory Outlet! Makes a really classy gift!! A very special thanks to Spyderholic! You RULE man! :D
