I am looking at buying a Viele II. They seem to be a very nice dress knife and I like the looks of them. Are there any of you out there in Spydieland who own them and can tell me anything about them?

Well, since GP had but one left at the $85 price, I went ahead and ordered it. I will post impressions when I get it.

It was the small size that attracted me. I am always in the market for interesting small knives to wear while going to work.

Our lot in life as feds. I really liked the Viele II, but wished the handle was the same on the palm side. Got me interested in Viele's work for sure.

I have both the Viele II and a KOPA in Black Micarta. I prefer the KOPA as it is a little smaller and lighter in weight.

I like the Viele II very much. It's heavy for a knife it's size, but that's not a problem for me. The action is very smooth and I like the different materials on either side of the handle. If the fit for you hand and opening the blade is good I think you'll really like it.

Very well made, definitely one of Spyderco's "top ten" in the fit and finish department. Action is smooth as glass, so it can be flicked open easily, but that just does not seem to be the "appropriate" way to open a gent's knife. Extremely right handed, otherwise, since hole is virtually inaccessible to those of us who are left handed.

Personally don't care for the asymetrical styling, would prefer the steel and micarta on both sides, and no clip, a feature I find somewhat out of place on gent's knives, but all of those things are just matters of taste.

I picked up my Viele 2 on Saturday and I really, really like it. It is a very classy little knife that works extraordinarly well. yes, it looked a little odd when I first saw it, but what Spydie doesn/t look a bit odd when first seen? It has a nice weighty feel to it that lends it a feeling of substance. This is something from which such a small knife benefits. The blade is not quite a Wharncliffe, although very close. I actually would prefer a Wharncliffe blade, but this one will do very nicely. The locking liner sits exactly in the middle of the blade tang and feels very secure.

All in all, a very nice city-going, dress-up knife.

Silenthunterstudios, do you mean left side carry ot tip-up carry? I could see screw holes to allow tip-up carry even if I, personally, would not choose that option but I cannot see how in Hell you could change it to left side carry, not the way it is made at this point.

I'm a righty, I meant tip up carry. I don't like tip down carry, but if that is all that's offered, I'll got with it. I'm not going to drill holes for tip up carry in a brand new knife, though.

Well, SHS, looking at mine, I think that the clip could easily be reversed and, since it has full metal liners, you would be tapping int the steel liner and not into the G10. But I suspectt that the clip screws may help to hold the liner in at the top, so you would need to put shorter versions in to the holes for the old clip position to retain that function without interfering withthe blade.

BTW, all screws other than the four holding the scales onto the liners are Phillips heads. The four holding the scales appear to be very small hex or torx heads.
