Just curious what everyone's thoughts are. I found this one on the dirt road i grew up on about 15 years ago cleaned it up and put it in my knife box. Looks to be well used but in decent shape other than the main blades tip is broken. It has great walk and talk on the main, so so on the secondary. The jigging on the scales show some serious pocket time which i love. Would you sharpen and carry, or leave alone in its dark existence in the box... Sorry for the poor cell phone pics

I get a error message when I attempt to click the picture links.

Without seeing it and from your description, sharpen and use it.

IMHO About the only knife that should be retired to the inside of a dark, dark box (and possibly buried) has the blades worn to toothpicks with tip(s) above the liners, making it unsafe to carry.

same here. OP - search "ratcliffe muskrat" for inspiration on what a wharnie modded musrat looks like

Sorry to those that can't view my pics, it's the only way i can figure out how to upload, I'm not computer smart enough to resize the photos properly I guess. Feeling like I made a decent enough attempt at a Wharncliffe mod. I'm surely not a pro! Maybe a little more time on the stone and the edge will be straight as it should be..

Those scales look great, and your regrind is nice too!

Whoever lost that knife, missed it, I bet. What year is a 9 dot with that tang stamp? I'm feeling too lazy to dig out my books.

Thanks for the kind replies everyone!

According to my CASE tang chart it is a 1971 model. In 1980 the stamp was the same except the "s" in CASE and USA was the lightning bolt. That gave it probably 30 years of pocket time to wear the jigging nearly smooth. Being that I live in Amish country, I'm guessing it rattled it's way out of a buggy on the rough road.

Matt - welcome to the Ratcliffe club ! Nicely done - that is a such a handy mod ...

Nice work! That's definitely a keeper and a user. (Interesting to note, I can see your pictures if I'm NOT logged in, but as soon as I log in they don't show, and I get an error message if I click on them.)
