Opinions on this axe

I would guess maybe 1930s - 1950s plus or minus 10 years.

Not sure if the handle is original for the head, but it is a very cool vintage octagonal handle, and yes, it's definitely worth the asking price. The head is in great shape and probably worth that price alone. If you can swing it, I'd buy that in a second.

@Old Axeman has one very similar to that, if not the same. It’s his favorite American Felling Axe, and the man knows his axes. $99 (assuming no cracks in the head) is a fair price in my opinion. Looks like it’s in great shape!! Super jealous of this find!

That is close to me:) no I don't have any intention of buying it out from under you I have 6 axes and several hatchets . Nice looking axe though

My wife would appreciate it if you bought it! I'm no axe collecting pro, but I thought the blade pattern and profile looked really nice. I emailed the guy and will see what comes of it. Thanks for the replies!

FWIW, I bought one-Kelly Perfect jersey a couple of months ago with an old slim handle still functional though a little over strike damage for $55 at a Mennonite auction. I snapped that sucker up in a heart beat it was such a good deal. Prior to that, I'd watch them go for over $100 sometimes for a really clean head on fleabay. I also lost some bids on heads for around $40. I'd give that guy an offer and eventually his asking price, but that's just me. You can see mine in the thread it followed me home on this forum. A guy with a YouTube channel called Bushcraft Sysiphus has an axe shootout and a KP jersey won.

It's in my possession for $80. Apparently he had it listed on ebay for local pickup only. He said guys were asking him to saw the handle off to ship it. Not sure why he wouldn't ship it as is, but I'm lucky he didn't. Still can't believe I found this on Cincinnati craigslist. Can't figure out how to post pics. Thanks again for the advice.

Get and Imgur account, and upload your photos there. Then you can copy and past the urls (either with the forum code, as provided by Imgur, or plain and just use the picture icon above).

Very pleased you were able to get such a fine tool for $80! Cheers, friend.
