Whats your opinion on the tomcat 3 i just sold mine as i had always seen it as a big tough quality folder which it almost was in my opinion however i hated the plastic spine.
It seemed pretty much the only strong point on it was the lanyard hole and pivot screw which seemed to be holding the knife together except a few tiny screws which seemed like they would give IMO during the use i intended it for.
I do expect my folding knives to give eventually with my use but warning is key so as i can buy another and still have all my fingers.
I did however find it extremely smooth i trusted the lock as much as any and i liked the look overall from blade to handle it was a heavy knife but very well balanced.
I see the knew carbon fibre version but does that have the same spine?.
I kinow the architec doesnt have the plastic spine but thats over priced IMO.

Dont get me wrong it was solid from the blade steel (i like VG10) to the steel inlays.
It was just that plasstic spine and as i carried it also for SD i trully couldnt risk failure especially if there are morre than one attacker.

These Nutz, the plastic is more of a guard to keep dirt out. It isn't part of the weight bearing, needed for strength frame. It's tough to imagine that disabling the knife even if it did break, or probably worse, melt.

It sure doesn't affect my confidence in the knife. In fact, you'd be accurate to call it a non issue. Joe

Are you saying that the only thing holding the two halves of this knife together are the pivot screw and the laynard hole? If so, then this knife cannot be broken down? I wanted to get the cf version and have STR fit me a deep carry pocket clip on it, but I'm not sure now.
