Opinions on which to keep, which to let go

It's a tale of two loves. I have a couple of knives, that, for all intents and purposes, seem to fill the same bill, though with very different styles. Both are great knives, BTW, but, in the effort to thin my herd, I think one needs to go. Opinions?

#2 Fox Knives Italy Trapper N680Co

What do you think?

Since you asked, I think the Fox knife is butt ugly. Looks like it has better build, though.

That's part of my problem: they both have a nice feel, though very different. The Fox is comfy and bigger Mircata, the SRK has a great rubberized grip.

I like both. The Fox is different for sure. I can see why it's ugly to some, but I like it. I keep wondering if the differing grinds on the blade make it more or less practical than the shape of the SRK.

just my 2 cents.
but i should think that the fox micarta scales would probably outlast the cs srk's rubber handle in the long term.
also, consider holding on to the piece which is mint or shows lesser wear.
i figure an srk is probably going to be in the cs product line for the longest time yet.
and that an italian model may not.
but if you're talking short term usage,
keep the one that doesn't hurt you.

Bye bye Fox, not a fan of N680.

Other reasons, it's butt ugly.

I think if you put them both up for sale, the cold steel would sell first, maybe just because it's more visually appealing.

Oh, Dangit, just saw the CS is VG-1 not VG-10... Eh, I'd still keep the CS.

Love the look of the Fox! I've never tried that steel though so I'm not sure if that makes for a good fixed blade choice?

Ack! I'd keep the Fox based on looks alone. I guess I'm shallow. Don't judge me! :p

I don't like Cold Steel knives on the whole, but the SRK is one that works for me so I would keep that.

I'd keep the Cold Steel. The SRK is a proven design and the VG-10 is a good blade steel.

I have a San Mai SRK and even though it could be better, it is
still a great knife. I'd keep the SRK.

So what's your main uses for the knives? Also if you use them bothe for the samething, and like them bothe equally, then look closely at which one has the most wear.. Mainly chips scrayches, handle fatigue.. decide weather the knife came by these honestly, or if it was to easy for them to get diggied up, then choose the tougher one... Just my $0.02

Here's my want to do vs should do dilemma. Your .02 on this would help too. BTW, thanks for your input thus far. Great views.

I want to take both out and field test them, which would be the easiest way to find my favorite.... BUT, both are still never used, and if I'm going to part with one, I hate to hurt the value of a potential sale by using it.

Do I just bite the bullet on a few bucks and field test both?

BTW, I think the Fox is cool looking too. Oh well, what can I do.

dude, your heart's on the fox obviously...
such tell tale signs of a deep emotional attachment
that would surely to bring about future regret.
Why tear yourself apart,
when you could still probably hold on to both
until such time your heart lies elsewhere?

The fact that you are torn between a knife with a more practical design in the SRK and one with the more dramatic and far less practical design of the Fox makes me think that you might be happier if you let go of both and sought out a knife with a practical blade profile & grind paired with a handle that is more like the Fox.

Personally I'd keep the SRK due to ease of sharpening, but that FOX loves awesome except for the handles. Looks like a CQC15BT
