I have been considering the BM 300 flipper but I am seeing many many mixed reviews about this blade.
Could you all please help with what all the dislikes are or is it just a love/hate type of deal.
I thank you all for your valued opinions.

It just doesn't have the detent needed to be a good flipper. Super smooth pivot though, and honestly with a little practice it's easy to get it to flip all the way open everytime. It's just not going to snap like a ZT 0562. Other than that, it's a great knife IMO. Fantastic ergonomics, lots of belly and pointy tip. I'm a fully fledged steel snob so I sold mine, but if it gets another limited or a gold class run I'll be all over it.

Yeah like Kragg said, detent is weird, but makes it a very smooth flipper. I love mine, if I could do it again I'd probably go with the blue version.

The way it was designed, and something rarely discussed, is the clip fits the blade perfectly. it's a deep pocket carry clip, but has enough of the knife available in the pocket to get easy purchase.

Biggest issue with mine was it should've been either a liner lock flipper or an assisted Axis, but not both.

Having trouble understanding what you mean. You're correct it's neither a liner lock nor an assisted axis lock.

What I mean is (being used to pure flippers; liner lock style) the 300 isn't that, or make it an Axis only. I couldn't get used to the feel of both opening methods in the same knife and traded mine off.

I had one and liked it very much.
However, if BM is going to make a flipper (and I believe they could truly make a great one) they will need to make one with a independent detent.

Im waiting on mine to arrive, i cant speak of the smoothness of it yet but aesthetically its a beautiful knife.

I like mine,
As others have said though, it needs detent. It is however, very smooth. I have mine swinging like a pendulum with no wiggle. The clip is great. Feels nice in hand (medium hands) and slices fairly well for a stout blade. It is also one of my favorite fondlers.
Cheers

This is one of my favorite knives. Great functionality. However, the handle feels a little cramped. Other than that it is awesome knife. No need for a detent. The combination of axis lock and flipper work great together. You will find yourself just setting around flipping it.

As mentioned, lacks proper detent to be a great flipper. I also found handle to be slightly too small and curvature of the handle to be too extreme. Just wasn't comfortable to me.
On a positive note, mine was smooth, solid lockup, attractive g-10, and just a tough knife.

Why would a detent be needed if the blade is held in place by the axis lock? I'm not understanding why it would be needed. When a blade can move freely a detent is needed to hold it in place. Which is not the case with the 300. The axis lock sucks it in when you close the knife. You can actually bounce the blade of the axis lock if you release the lock too soon when closing the blade.

Because there is no detent, you can't build up enough kinetic energy to get the blade to open all the way.
If you push on the flipper with your finger, the amount of power needed to overcome the axis lock and move the blade; is less then what is required to open it fully.
The blade will start it's journey to open.......but will fall short.....with out some other added force like gravity or a slight wrist flick.
With other flippers the amount of power/force needed to overcome the detent is more than enough power to open the blade fully to stop.

Funny, mine flies open just fine without any extra movement. I understand your point about the detent. That is probably why this knife is so short. Any longer of a blade would require more force to move it all the way to open.

Thank you all for your input. As I am new to the flipper knife game and collecting I very much value the knowledge that I can gain from those who know what I do not.
Now to see if I can find one for a good price. lol
