first off I love that burl... if you want i'll keep it in my closet for ya free of charge :D your also a fan of the Wharnecliff style , nice... :)
I too enjoyed the filework , I love to see other folks ideas on filework.
I like those um , dont know what to call them , shivs ? skinny knives with the fielwork and small blade ? Those are cool :)

I really like the file work along the tangs of those two neck knives, side by side they're a heck of a duo. Good balance of simplicity but elegance...lots of people get carried away with filing.

The knives and styleing look fine, I would suggest better photos to showcase the knives. a light tent is almost a necessity for good photos.

Michael,

I really like your wharncliff knives too! Also great job on the filework. I look forward to seeeing them (and you) at NCCA. I'll bring some wood for you to check out.

Best,

PJG

simple but cool.
if anyone's intersted in some burl i might have some with me at the NCCA show in CT. it'll be good to see you again Paul. too bad you're gonna miss the hammer-in. we'll do some extra chopping just for you ;)
thanks again guys. enjoy the pics. hope you all like them

I think your knives are looking great Mike. You've come a long way in a very short amount of time and everytime I see one of your pieces they get better and better. I'm looking very forward to seeing what you have on the table at Stamford. Keep 'em coming.

I don't know a lot about straight knives, never made one, but those look nice. The filework is clean and consistent, your grinds look nice too. Keep up the good work.

nice work. on picture 17, how do you make a strong connection between the "orn" handle and the blade?

orion

thanks J. i appreciate it. you'll be able to get a preview at the hammer-in right?
CJS. thanks man i've been practicing the filework here and there and i think its a great easy and cheap way to add a little something else to a blade, adn the patterns are endless!!.
orion: i dovetailed the tang so i could braze on a longer tang, then i'll fit up a guard and drill a hole thrugh the horn to fit the tang in.
i'll either pin the tang through the handle material, or just put bunch of V cuts in the tang and a few holes so the epoxy will hold it good enough.

thanks guys!

sorry to hear that J. and to think gary might be doign the forgindemo thisyear and you're gonna miss it :grumpy:
well there's always next time
