sorry i posted this in the gadget area and didnt get any replys.

i just bought a maxpedition falcon II http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/...10&idcategory=
im disappointed with the size of the pack. my own fault cus i didnt pay attention to the measurements.

my question is if anyone has any in put on this bag. http://www.cheaperthandirt.net/MOLLE124-1.html.

its more of the size i want. i dont really like the look of the maxpedition venture II but i am also considering it.

so please give me some insight or recommend another brand. id like to stay under 150 as well.

thank you
dylan

Some folks seem to like those CTD bags but I can never get past the fact that they are a copy of other bags. In this case, it is a copy of the Camelbak BFM which is a great bag and on the big side for a "3 Day Pack" so it might be just what you are looking for.

I would also encourage you to give the Falcon II a chance. It is one of my favorite "small" packs.

I have the ctd bag. while it is a good bag, it is starting to tear at the top where the nylon meets the hydration pocket. for the money it is a good bag, but the Maxped stuff is by far the better quality. I know there backpacks are slightly smaller than what I thought as well, but I think for me if I need a bigger bag then i will get a large duffle to use for trips and such.

I have 2 Maxped gearslinginger,a Monsoon and a Sitka. Both are bulletproof and fill different roles. I would look very closely at what you need it for and then decide. I would rather spend the money once on a Maxped than spend the money over and over on a less expensive knock-off.

Thanks guys for your replys!

im looking for a good overnight pack maybe a 2 night pack.

The ctd pack will fit that bill. I have used mine for trips up to a week long, ,although that would be pushing it, depending on what you were doing and where you were going. for one or two nights the largest Maxped pack would work well, and you will never have to buy another one. Except when you get afflicted with the sickness, and can't help yourself. My bag addicition is second only to my knife addiction.

Let us know what you decide.

I have a few of the Condor brand bags and I can't complain. Maxped stuff is better quality for sure but it's also twice or more the price. For how often I use the bigger bags the Condor stuff is great.

For a daily carry bag, I prefer Maxped.

I have to agree with this. the Maxpedition gear is very well built. Although it is very over priced IMHO.

I have had plenty of knock off gear both present and past. Will it work? sure, will it last? it might, will it fail on you? most likely (and at the worst time).

ModGear, Diplomat, Condor, Fox, VooDoo, UTG Leapers, etc all have one thing in common.......... cheap sewing, materials and lack of attention to details. All common to items made in China.

I have no problem with most of them you just have to know the limitations of them. Most of the time I double and triple check any knock off gear and reinforce stitching if needed, replace zipper pulls, you get the idea. If you do a regular check of your gear and repair when needed you can get a lot of mileage out of the "cheaper" gear. One thing I do is keep a repair kit in any bag I am using, it has very thick and strong coat thread (walmart carries it) it will cost you more but is very worth it if you ever have to use it, ITW repair buckles and tri glides

The Maxpedition gear I have holds up ten times better and I have never had to do any reinforcement work on the gear, the most I have had to do was some rouge strings in one of the bags I got about two yeas ago (prob slipped through QC) but it did not take anything away from the bag.
