I noticed K&G is carrying this stuff and it says you "use it in place of foil".

So... is that it? Just some sort of liquid coat to use in place for preventing scale and decarb?

I am using TICRONIC foil right now. Opinions compared to the foil? How does Turco fare over 2000°F? Anybody combine both? Thanks guys.

The fellow that heat treats my stainless blades uses this stuff, and it seems to work nicley. It is less headache than foil, as you don't have to try and remove anything from the blade for the air quench. It does keep the decarb away, and cleans up easily after HT with 220 grit paper. It is super easy to apply, just dip in the container, let drip dry for a few minits and put in the oven.

A container of the stuff lasts forever, and is probably more economical in the long run than foil. However, I'm not certain about how it reacts to temps higher than 2000, as most of mine have been ATS-34 and D-2. It seems that when he did a 440V blade, which required a temp over 2000, that it didn't react the same way and discolored somewhat. The blade seemed fine and behaved its self, but this was different than what I had been accustomed to with ATS, and was slightly harder to clean up.

Anyway, just my limited knowledge of this stuff. Clint
