Opinions Wanted:Al Mar SERE 2000

I am considering this knife. Althought it seems to be very hard to find right now. Is it worth the trouble?

Who has one?

Who had one and got rid of it?

The sere 2000 is my daily carry. I really like this knife, alot. Fit and finish are excellent. VG-10 steel seems to be a real performer. Ergonomics are good. I think the fact that they are so hard to get speaks volumes about the quality of this knife.

I have seen a couple of people that have sold theirs on the for sale individual forum. I cant tell you why, though.

I think it would be well worth the trouble to find one. I also realize that just because I like it doesn't mean that you will.

I talked to Gary at Al Mar about a month ago and he said they were working on getting another run finished. I am sure there will be more, I am just not sure when. Have you checked with www.proedgeknives.com Murray had some last I checked.

I like it. It is a heavy duty knife that seems to ably fill the role as a folder survival knife, tactical knife, utility, whatever. The liners are solid. The action is smooth and the VG10 is very impressive. Add a Micke Sastra River City Sheath and you have a great package. If you can find one I do not think you can go wrong.
