Well, as it stands I'm pretty sure I'm about to get my first Sebenza, and it'll be the Trapeze model. What do y'all think about this model? Would anyone here be concerned about EDC-ing a knife with stones set in 14k gold? I suppose the settings would be covered under the warantee? What do you think of the model as a whole? Anyone have one and like to share some opinions on it? Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Anthony

I think it all gets down to what you desire in a knife. Ultimately, the decision to invest in a high-end knife such as a Sebenza needs to be one with which you can live. Therefore, if the Trapeze model is what you want then get it and enjoy.

A highly decorated model wouldn't be my choice for EDC. But then again, I tend to be more drawn to something more simple and basic. If this is what YOU want, by all means go for it.

If you like it then by all means go for it. I would have no worries about EDCing it, but that's just me. If you ever have a problem CRK will take care of you. I personally find this design very appealing, myself.

Thanks for the responses so far. I was hoping someone with this particular model would chime in as far as its EDC possibilities. I don't really have a problem with the design as such. It is more a desire to know how the knife looks in person, and whether or not the 14k settings will hold up long-term. Like I said, I suppose if they don't that it would be a warantee issue, but I'd still be interested in knowing something from someone whose got one. Please, keep yer ideas and comments coming!

Sincerely,
Anthony

I have that model with just a little different appearence so as a result it is classified as a unique model! The other difference is that mine also has a stainless damascus blade!! The trouble with it ( as well as my wood inlays) is that they are so great looking you don't want to scratch them and as a result you have to buy 5 or 6 regular models to satisfy your sebenza addiction just for edc!
Personally, I think it's a huge plot by CRK's so to have us purchase more knives.

I tend to agree with Paul. It also depends on how you use and carry the knife as to how well it will hold out as a EDC. If you keep it in your pocket with keys and change it will get marked up. If you keep it in the leather pouch that CRK provides, it will keep much better but it will be less convienient to access. I have a mammoth ivory Mnandi that sees a lot of pocket carry in my pocket sans keys and other objects and it hardly has a scratch. My idea for a edc is something that I can get to right away, use it hard in an emergency situation and put it back without worry about it's appearance. Your knife will perform it's knife function perfectly with careless and even abusive care. But the outside will show signs of wear. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it all depends on your tolerance for having your knife remain in pristine condition. If a little scratch here and there is OK, then use the knife. If not you would be better served with a plain or a wood inlay Sebenza. My experience is that the wood inlays and the Mnandis look great if not better after lots of carry. Good luck.
