Hi all,
I'm considering between the following 2 knives.
The first is the ESEE 4 and the next is the Ka-Bar Becker BK16.
Both are coated blades, non-serrated.
Pricing is close enough that I don't care. Size is just right for my needs and both seem robust for woodsy type chores up to and including light batoning.
I can get the BK16 locally for just about the same cost as online buying. I'd have to buy the ESEE online. Not a biggy but I do like to buy local and support the local shop when I can. But I also like to save money when I can.
Your opinions of these knives is appreciated.
Thank you,
Kai

The ESEE 4 is a great knife but it didn't work FOR ME. I felt the handle was too small and I didn't like the choil. If you can try one do it because some folks love them. ESEE is a great company with a great warranty.

I have both and prefer the BK16.
you have local access to it, it feels good in hand, and the price is reasonably comparable to buying online?
buy it.

I like the 17 better than the 16. Something about a well designed clip point grabs my attention.

Both are good blades. How big is your hand ? BK16 has a little longer handle. It fits me great. Can't go wrong with either, but i am a BeckerHead so i am biased.

I don't have a BK-16 yet, but I really love my ESEE-4. I think the ESEE-4 sheath is fantastic and almost impossible to improve on, especially with the MOLLE back, but either way I think you'll be happy.

I went with the BK16. I felt it fit my needs and was wallet friendly as well as bought locally.
I had a very hard time deciding and actually had several others on my list...Ontario, etc. They were all in the same general price range and had good reviews.
I bought the 16 based on your advice...thank you...online reviews, product descriptions of the material, etc. and YouTube video reviews. Video reviews are great and played a major part in my decision.

The knife is great. I'll be putting a better edge on it when I have a few days off in a few days...I work 12 hour swing shifts leaving little free time during work days ugh :(....
Thanks all for the advice, comments and suggestions.
That's the reason I like this forum and especially the people on it.
