Should I buy a new large Sebenza 21 box elder burl or Hinder XM 18 non flipper spanto in 390 steel

Hinder XM 18 non flipper spanto in 390 steel

G2

edited to add, you'll go mad asking for someone else to decide for you, better to flip a coin if you find that you like the looks of them equally, both are solid performers, get what you like...

Not a huge fan of either particularly, but of the two I'd go Sebenza for sure.

Both great knives, but I find the Sebenza fits my everyday uses better. I like heavy duty(overbuilt or whatever you want to call knives like the Hinderer) knives, but I really don't need them for my tasks. So the answer for you would depend on your usage.
Buy what appeals to you or buy both

OP - that you are not sure which one to buy basically indicates whichever you buy, there is a good chance you will initially be disappointed or underwhelmed. That might change after you stick to it for a while, though.

Boy howdy. I'd never ask which one I should buy. Rather I would ask advantages and disadvantages of each model.

From folk who owned one or both.

These are really two that I'd seek out in person to try out, rather than ask a crowd with various biases.

Failing that, the coin toss is probably the safest bet.

Come on now, yall are slippin. The correct answer is to buy them both! :)
OK...and then sell the Hinderer and buy 2 Spydercos :D
This would then make a total of 3 knives that do a good job at cutting things.

OK this is based on what I have read here though I do like M390 steel over S35VN . . . so . . . here is the way to go :
Buy the Hinder XM 18 in M390
why ?
Because the edge will last long enough for you to send out your Sebenza to be properly profiled and sharpened and then sent back to you.
Problem solved.

I know my opinion will probably not be very popular here but I love my xm18 and found my sebenza rather disappointing for what I paid for it.

my question is whats the plan for the knife ? to look pretty or be used hard? if its pocket jewlery then id say CRK if its real hard use XM18.

Sebenza. Granted, I own a Sebenza and not a Hinderer. I've handled a few Hinderers at my local knife shop, but the CRKs have always felt better.

If you're really in to knives, just pick which ever looks the coolest to you right now, save up, and get the other one. After you have am XM 18 and a Sebenza you'll know if you want to buy more Hinderers or CRK. Many people get quite a few of both. You won't go wrong either way.

XM that configuration is a limited run, and they don’t make them beey often. 21’s are much more common.

Far too few completely unrelated suggestions. I'd say get a few dozen Opinel knives instead.

Really it depends on what you want. The Sebenza will cut better and be a lot classier, but the Hinderer will be up for more of a thrashing, and hold an edge a lot longer (M390 is a superb steel). The Hinderer will also have a lot more aftermarket modification options too.
