Yeah, all right, it's a clickbait title.

The video ad-revenue-generating platform recently suggested something by Dutch Bushcraft Knives. I like a more laid-back presentation style myself, but they sure show how to use up a knife!

The DBK boys have collaborated with WE to bring us the "Nightblade": https://www.knifecenter.com/find-the-best/nightblade

I would like to hear the opinions of other enthusiasts about this design.

Meh.

Looks like a Chinese Ti Bugout for about the price of a U.S. Grivory Bugout with a weird nick where a stud should be.

Meh.

You're not wrong. Why the oddly placed nail nick instead of a proper opening method (we don't always want to do the AXIS lock flick)? Does the Netherlands have some weird laws about that?

The only remotely "designerish" thing , on this mostly derivative version, is the stupidest opening method possible for anything not a slip joint .! 🤢

The nail nick, they say, is to not get in the way of sharpening like a more sticky-outy disc or stud would. I'm not sure who's sharpening their everyday to 15 degrees, but you do you.

Kinda glad that the consensus so far is "nothing special". I think I would get a Lander, instead....

It looks fine, but to me having titanium scales and a $200 price tag on what looks to be a very basic, user pocket knife design seems about as out of place as tits on a boar hog. If it was CIVIVI with micarta and Nitro-V I would say it was a great design for a work knife that I'd happily gift to non-enthusiasts.

^^^^ Yes, some Euro countries have laws against carrying (not owning) one-hand opening + locking (only one of those is OK, go figure) knives. Stupid, but what do you expect from spineless politicos?

Boring knife for the money involved. I'm sure it's well made, and can do knife things, but as mentioned, it looks like a 100 other Bugout, etc.... knives.

All the YouTubers are now getting into the design game. Jared has the Convict. Bestdamnedc has the Clingman from Civivi. DBK has the WE. Zac Whitmire Has the Yonder.

None appeal to me they look boring and have nothing really exciting or new.

This appears to be a strong trend. Before the likes of nutnfancy would get a special edition and we’d all laugh but this is different. I believe the real designers are losing out on shelf space only because of a random YouTuber.

For me it's a No as well, I don't like DBK in the slightest and this knife looks like most other knives out there today.

Why everyone nowadays needs to have their own knife design is also beyond me, especially if your design looks like a lot of knives already out there.

Nothing unique, special or otherwise appealing about it, IMO. 🤷

I don’t think the market is clamoring for a locking knife with a nail nick, but I could be wrong.

Europe. Some countries won't allow one handed opening of a locking blade.

Also there are threads here where people talk about their dislike of thumb studs and disks because it limits how much of the blade they can use.

Boring and nothing new. It’s Bugout inspired but highly derived from the Lander. I don’t need it. It might sell in Amsterdam though.
