Hey guys. Buying a new knife. I've decided on Benchmade's Activator, I think, but I just can't decide which version of it to get! The first 210, with the leather sheath, the new 210TK with the Kydex sheath, the limited edition 210-GG, or the new 211 with the wine wood handle and D2 steel.

What's D2 vs S30V like in all aspects?

Knife's purpose would be general EDC.

Thanks.

I would suggest using the search feature for the D2 vs S30V, you'll find plenty of information. There are also some reviews on the Activator on here so you should check those out too. I dont have an Activator but i've heard the leather sheath it comes with is crap. Goodluck deciding!

I am a big fan of Benchmade's D-2 steel. After I got my knife; I did have to do some reprofileing to get my blade angle right. I like the edge-pro and sharp maker both; but my sharpening skills are far from excellent. I have seen severel posts about the the s30v blades chipping on some of the guys knives. I have no first hand knowlege of this, but it might be worth thinking about before you drop your dime on the table. Good luck with your new knife and enjoy
Jay

S30V/G10 - No chipping as its a stout edge. Use it almost daily and no problems. Sheath is ok. A little bulky for a knife this size but I dont really mind. Looking to get the D2 version as well.
