I got a new small wheel attatchment for my KMG and was just fooling around in the shop trying to find things to do with it. I've always stayed clear of getting too artsy but do appreciate it when I see it. I never thought I was much good at it so be kind. But, out of curiousity, what do you think? Yey or ney?

It grips easier getting it out of the pocket now if that means anything. I figured a second was worth experimenting on. I might anodize some of it and see how that looks also. But I'll wait to get a few opinions. Oh, you can see a before picture in my signiture line.

I've been contemplating doing the same to a couple of my folders that have SS handles but have been too chicken to take the plunge.

If I did do it like you did yours I think I would go all out like the sculpted G10 one see's on a .. Strider maybe.
Than maybe a heat coloring then light polish of the unsculpted steel for color contrast.... hmm , too artsy ?

That is a nice touch. I don't think it is too artsy. Gives it a cool textured look. Great work!

I don't really care too much for how it looks but if it feels good in your hand and helps the grip then I say "why not?".

Form follows function.

I think I like it. Although perhaps the only thing that's bothering me is the change in directionality towards the front of the blade. Suddenly there's vertical lines and the horizontal lines start to fall out of being parallel with all the rest.

In all honesty I don't really care for it as well, I have always liked things simple and clean.
Good job though

Thanks.

I have never liked artsy fartsy much myself. I just thought I'd play around with it. I don't think I care much for it either but it was fun doing it.

Ok well, figuring since I don't know if I like it and this knife was a play ground of sorts anyway, what about now? A rusty brown and blue Ouparator anyone? The white spots are from my scanner. Sorry its filthy dirty. I am wiping it with Windex right now.
Here is a slightly better outdoor shot. I know its rough but I think with some practice it could be done better and cleaner if done from scratch rather than after grind lines have already been added. Still my wife liked it a lot. I'm mixed about it.

Wow, I like that a lot now. I realy dig when Ti is done that way. With the surface one color and the machined out portions a second.

Yeah my wife loved it also and wanted me to leave it alone but I thought it was too busy. I couldn't leave it the way it was. I wasn't done playin' withit. :D . I think I finally found a happy medium I can live with now. I rather like a solid color better and I sculpted it a bit more to even things out some.

This I think will suffice nicely. Finally!

Thanks I think so also. I'm surprised it has not brought out more replies though. On other forums they went nuts over it.

Go figure.

I like both the blue and copper colored one and the gold colored one. The pictures really look good. When seen on the scanner they don't look that good.

I didn't like the blue and copper color until I saw the last picture and then I really liked it.

The scanner pics don't do it justice. :)

Nice work.

I think that lots of people here just don't know that you have your own forum and/or where it is at. :)

That there looks like a high voltage color...gotta love how it all turns to one color. I prefer this latest revision the best, those grinds look really cool.

Very nice, Steve. I've been looking for a way to add texture to my Spyderco Police(s). This may be the ticket.

Can the colors be done on a stainless steel handle, or just titanium?

I've never seen stainless done in color. Well, black has been done on it. I'm not sure how though. Seems there are several methods and all are baked on. Titanium is the only one I can color but I know aluminum can be anodized with a bit more work and a different technique than used for ti. Titanium is fairly easy to color by comparison.

That is awesome.... The other knife you did with solid color is nice too but this one grabs my attention.

If I can chime in on Tizwins question , SS can color but I've never got it to color like Ti , I think Ti colors with not as much tempature.
Believe it or not I've done what Ti coloring I have done on my stovetop , lol :D crude but effective. I did color the bolsters on a BM , do not know if they are SS or what type of steel but I got a nice bronzish color on them.

Anyways STR , nice job on that once more , love the colors.
