I am getting no love with the "search" feature tonight and it usually works quite well. Anyway, I need some advice on some afordable yet good quality optics. I am up because there was a guy prowling around out side. My dogs woke me up (good dogs). He had a big arse dog with him and said he was looking for his Chiuawa (sp) that ran off. But this is not a common occurance in my neighborhood. And my wife added fule to the fire by telling me about a news clip she recently saw where gang bangers were using big dogs to help intimidate viticms in crimes as well as protect their drugs.

So anyway, I grab my G-21 and AK-47 as they were the closest to me and stood watch for a while outside. He went up and down the street a couple of times, seemingly looking for his "other" dog. And that may very well be the truth but just odd as it's not the smartest thing to do around here at 3am. I had a cheap 10x30 monocular and tried to track him but it did a poor job which got me to thinking that I need a decent set of hand-held optics to go with my INFI. Nothing too fancy. Just day-time optics for now. So any advise would be great.

Now back to check on my friend. The dogs are barking again. No sleep tonight I guess.

uhh, that was me, I was really lost. My INFI sniffing dog brought me to your house.

Say, what time do you guys go to work at??

as for optics. Any quality optics will work. But I use a gunscope to spot. It is smaller than binocs and can reach out there pretty well.

best optics for that occasion would be mounted to your rifle of choice

whoops, sorry, i see cobalt already covered that part

I would suggest getting a nice aimpoint 3x and eotech.. mount both on the M4 of your choice.

For the non ordinance attached, I carry a small Nikon binocs in the car. They are great for their size and very portable.

I've had good luck with Eagle Optics. They sell their own brand of binoculars, for a bit cheaper than the big names, and have a good warranty policy. They also carry most major brands of binoculars, spotting scopes, etc.
