Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and looking forward to interesting discussions :)

I would like to build my own gas ribbon burner forge. During the planning phase, I am unsure about the correct angle of the burner.

Could you help me to align it properly?

Technical specifications:

Forge size:

See side section. Length: 516 mm

Burner size:
The burner head is made of refractory concrete. The dimensions of the refractory concrete are
L = 300 mm, W = 80 mm, H = 25 mm.

There are 45 M8 drill holes on this surface.

Thank you very much for your help! :)

Kind regards The SpaceForgeProject

Welcome to Shop Talk. Fill out your profile so we know where you are and a bit about you.

On a dome forge, I haven't seen one made like yours. However, it looks like your plan would would work. The box forges usually have the burner on the upper side.
Most dome forges have the burner on the floor facing up. Here is a good thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/table-forge-with-ribbon-burner.934512/

I won't claim to have all the answers, but I have built a few forges in my career, both using ribbon burners and venturi set-ups and the only thing I try to worry about with ribbon burners is not to have the flames directed directly at where your steel will be resting. However, seeing as how the flames from my ribbon burners are only about an inch long, it's not something I worry too much about.
I don't feel there's any real need to try to encourage any 'swirling' effect like with a venturi forge.
