I have a question about knife weights......just bought a Busse FFBM as an upgrade for my main webbing knife. I think it will weigh in at the same weight as my Cold Steel Kukri which weighs 2.2lb or 1 kilo. Would that be right?

Model wise....what is the next one down? Ideally I suppose with a 8 or 9 inch blade?

Thanks for the help.

Try a Ruck... if you can find one. A Ruck weighs in at 1lb 6.5 Oz or 640g on average and has a much longer blade length. Of course it may be more difficult to find, conceal, and afford. Well, maybe at least 2 out of the three. If not that than of course an FSH of some sort or even a mojo. If the weight is an issue you could just get a CGBM. Some like the 8-9" models and some don't. Try them and if you don't like them just sell them. I don't recall the weight of the FFBM.

There are pics of the FSH in the for sale section or you could always go to www.bussecollector.com I haven't handled the FSH so I can't comment on the appeal for it or its usefulness. There are varying thicknesses and weights depending on which FSH you get. The ruck is 3/16" thick and is harder to find.

Many thanks for the help Murdok. Any links where I could see a picture of the Ruck?

Here's a shot I just took that shows the difference between a Battle Mistress blade and a Steel Heart blade (both Fusion models).

Guyon, i have got to get me one of those stumps, every pic up put up with knives stuck in it, makes me want to blow a paycheck on a new Knife. to me a hell razor makes a great user weight blade, but i guess u need it super sharp to do much chopping.

Thanks for the help here guys. The Ruck is interesting but not what I could work with. The Steel Heart looks to be about 2 inches less than the BM....so should have a 7 to 8 inch blade......nice photo Guyon......guessing here but the Steel Heart would probably come in at 18-20 oz's ? Anyone know the weights for these two? Guyon.....does the SH lose a lot of chopping ability to the BM? Obviously some would go.....but can the SH work well?

THe Heavy Heart is a great blade/ 8" and a great chopper.

yes it looses to the BM in chopping but wins at other chores.

Like throwingpics coming

I will let G tell ya about his special FSH:)

Many thanks Lil Foo, the FFBM is actually lighter than the Kukri I have been using so that's a bonus........looks like my first choice has turned out well......balance means a lot when working with a knife but I expect that should be fine with the BM.

Can't wait for it to arrive......

Any busse is at it's optimum weight as far as I'm concerned so long as it doesn't make my suspension creak when I toss it in the car ;)
