It's going to be difficult to get an improved campsite (i.e. with even so much as a pit toilet nearby) this late in the game, especially on the Oregon coast. Good luck.

This is more like three hours from the Couv, but Cape Perpetua in the Siuslaw National Forest on the Central Oregon Coast is awe inspiring.

That is fifteen miles from my house. If I was home, that is where I would be hiking. The views are spectacular.

Hey neighbor... You might try Fort Stevens, Astoria Oregon. I took my wife there about six months ago. Plenty to do, you can check out the old fort and the ship wreck Peter Iredale is still around. We spent hours cruising around the fort, they have even restored one of the big guns and placed it a battery pratt.

Plenty of camp sites around, or there is a KOA with cabins, showers and a pool.

Where ever you go, good luck on the reservations.

Last weekend I went towards Mt. St. Helens and camped out overnight, then went to the Ape Cave the next day. The Cave is a tunnel about 1.25 miles long, a bit damp, completely dark, 42 degrees. It is awesome!

Anyhow, it is off I-5, Exit 21 eastbound on 503 for 35 or so miles. Very close to you, and there are lots of forest service roads up there that you can drive around on and camp out at. Bugs weren't a big problem at all either, and the temperature was a bit lower than the scorchers we've been having.

Hi there. I went to high school just outside Eugene, OR. Here is the spots I can remember, there are probably many more than this in Oregon.
Harris Beach State Park
Falls Creek
Cougar Hot Springs
As well as a ton of hiking areas in the Cascades around the Black Butte area.
Have fun. There is so many different areas to explore in Oregon and Washington.
On a side note, I heard last week that I will be moving to Washington next May!
