Just a few quick Halloween pics for ya! Decided to put the black "queen" to some hard time work. I'm thinking a Karda might have been a bit better for this task though. My daughter and I call this a Squashkin! No one seemed to have pumpkins this year, so luckily we did not have pumpkin pie in mind  So, squash it was.

Happy Halloween!

Ok, so we really didn't make all the small detailed cuts with a 5/32 blade but it sure was fun trying!

Looks like great fun was had. Cute kid. My daughter was "too old for that" this year. :( They grow up too fast.

Neato! I was hoping someone cut a pumpkin with one! Happy Halloween!

Awesome pics man, I think it looks great! That Bushcrafter looks awesome too. Be careful letting your daughter use your knives, the next thing you know they want their own :)

Great looking knife. I have never had much luck carving pumpkins with think spined knives.

Yeah, she carried my HB in her pack the last time camping. It was cute. All she wanted to do was cut the stems of flowers and make a bouquet. I'm really liking the Bushie. It's a great size and the thicker belly makes it feel very stout. As far as carving the pumpkin (aka: squash) it was a bit thick for the task, which we knew going into it. Just really wanted to get some shots in for Halloween with a FB. The black accents was the obvious choice. ;-)

Same here, the pumpkin carving tool did most of the small cuts. That's why a small kitchen knife from Andy is on my radar.

Yeah, it's still a good start in getting her used to carrying and using a knife. I just noticed the Bushy has a grind that goes all the way up to the spine, I like that. As a group we are fortunate. When we go out as a family we represent four makers and good friends on this forum. I am always packing one of my Fiddlebacks ( at least a HB when I am carrying something else larger), the wife is usually carrying her blue handled knife made by Bryan Breeden (she's somewhat of a blue nut), the oldest carries one of Rick Marchand's earlier knives, and the youngest carrying one given to her by John Hutcheson of SKW. All of their first knives are so much better than my first knife.

Yes, I am a bit partial to a full height convex grind. When I saw this one, I jumped. I like the way it still reveals some spalting while being ground all the way up. Speaking of first knives, I just gave mine to my nephew for his 10th b-day. A Boyscout folder. He was thrilled. My sister - not so much. She got over though. But by the end of the day, and him opening it up about 100 times, it tagged his thumb, and it found a new home in my sisters purse for the rest of the day :-)
