I noticed something when I aligned these three open folders handle right justified vs handle left justified:

The blade length on the 422 and the 424 are almost the same. They differ by only 3/16". The 422 blade is 2 15/16" while the smaller 424 blade is 2 12/16". The 424 looks so much smaller than the 422 because of the difference in the size of handle length (422 is 4 1/4" vs 424 3 3/4"), width & thickness.

Handles aligned on their right end in order to highlight handle size differences:

Handles aligned on their pivot end to show blade length similarity between 422 & 424:

The lighting, flash vs ambient light, sure changes the orange color showing in the pics.

I carry a 424 every day in my RFP. Don't ever notice that it is there unless I pocket my hand.

I never realized how close in blade length the 424 was to the 422. Huh.

Notice that the 424 has a drop point blade and it lacks the nail nick.

The 426 and 422 both sport clip point style blades along with prominent nail nicks.

Thank you kindly. We like the same things ITE.

I credit you for my deep appreciation of the BuckLite models. You walk the earth like a giant in my humble opinion, however, you don't leave such deep footprints because you carry BuckLites!!!

oregon, thank you for that comparo shot. It's pretty cool how much blade they packed into the 424, and it's got a really pleasing shape to it as well. I've only carried mine a few times,(not orange:( ) and I had to keep checking my pocket because I thought that I had forgotten to bring along a knife:eek:

I got my most excellent ORANGE 424s from the Buck Store directly over the telephone a while ago. The 424 is the knife I always have with me. I carry one with a black handle one daily but enjoy the orange ones as a visual delight with carry that color once in a while.

I've never seen this model in this color handle elsewhere except as a blem and only from one independent vendor.

Nice knives, thanks for the pics! I have the 426, think I might need to search for an orange 424:D

My wife likes her 424 I bought for her a few years back from Oregon as well. She carries it every day. Plus, she has a 426 with drop point blade that she enjoy carrying. DM

They still sell them there?

Give Buck a buzz when they are open. Lets us know if they still have inventory.

I am very happy, actually smiling as I type this, that your talented wife enjoys the 424. She is one of an exclusive club to have a 426 with a drop point blade. Those terrific knives are rare in my experience. You are a lucky man desert Dave.
