My favorite knife is my RC-3 MIL.
What is the allure of the Orange G-10 I see so many of you have. I've just never been a fan of the bright colors. If I was planning on spending a few days in the woods, maybe I'd consider it simply for ease of finding in the snow or underbrush. But, I have a habbit of not dropping my knife or leaving it behind only to have to backtrack to relocate.

How does that fee in your hand compared to the canvas Micarta of the MIL version?

Thanks,
Tom

the only orange G-10 i have is on my rat pack knife. goes pretty good with the black blade. it's not a knife i try to hide, so the bright color is alright. it's a little slicker than the linen micarta, but the traction is great.

+1. The orange G10 is alright, but I'm not crazy about it.

My personal opinion is that the difference is very, very slight. They all have a somewhat different feel, but as far as grip goes I can't really say I find there's any significant difference between any of the ESEE handle materials.

A lot of my ESEEs see use in fishing, food processing, and game cleaning and once they're wet or covered in animal juices I honestly can't really tell a difference between them. I really think way too much is made of the differences.

I say go with whatever one you think looks best. I'm a huge fan of orange personally, and although I rarely have a problem finding my knives in the field (they always go back in the sheath when I'm not using them) it is a very nice feature and I think orange looks good.

I never really cared for the orange myself until I went out wandering with my dog for the weekend and I pulled out my knife at the same time as my dog jumped up on me and the knife went airborne, Embarrasing to admit but hey things happen, I was walking though some kind of thick brush with a brown duracoated knife, I spent an hour and a half looking for my knife before I found it and was able to continue on my trip. Now I like orange.

well the rat pack knife was my first knife that had orange handles, and i really like it

I used to feel the same way, but then I lost my OD Izula with OD wrap within two days of getting it. Now I keep the replacement wrapped in orange. I like the way the darker colors look, but I really don't like losing knives.

I've got a few orange handled knives as well. I like them for a few reasons. Easy to see if dropped or misplaced or pulled from it's sheath by a branch, etc. I don't have a habit of doing that either but it can happen. I also like to think it appears less threatening to people who may not carry the same respect for knives as most of us.

As far as how the orange G10 feels....I don't notice much difference. My attempt to describe the difference would be to say that the G10 has a more 'tacky' feel to it whereas the micartas have a more 'textured' feel to them.

Thanks for the comments so far. I may just have to try orange. I may go for it though on an EESE-4, rather than a 3. But, all that is still up in the air. Hmmmm.
