Did anyone ever find a source for orange colored handle material. I checked with our local power company and it was negative. Since I am having a hard time remembering where a put my keys it would nice to be able to spot my knive in the field. thanks dlee

Have you tried putting a normal, ugly handle on it, out of whatever you want, and then coating it with that liquid electrical tape stuff? Or the liquid plastic that you can use to coat pliers handles?

Just a thought...

DLEE,If you can't find some why don't you just make some yourself.
All you have to do is go to the fabric store and get a piece of orange material, and since Hunting season is upon us that shouldn't be real hard to get.
Then pick up some fiberglass resin and hardener.
Now cut the fabric into strips and then into the lengths a little bigger than you need.now on a piece of flat steel place a piece of waxed paper and then start soaking the material inthe fiberglass resin and start stacking it to a little thicker than you will need, once you have the stack made place another piece of waxed paper over it and set another piece of steel on it and if that isn't heavey enough to squish it together just add something heavey for a weight this way you are pressing it together.
Let it cure out real good, now take it and smooth off the edges so you don't poke or cut yourself and make a handle.
This is a cool way to make your own versions of micarta and can be done with all sorts of material and paper.Old denim looks cool also.Just have some fun and experiment,
Good Luck.

Another thing you can do try, just add a little fluorescent orange paint(Just a couple drops) to resin or epoxy.Use a lite colored wood for your handle material(like birch) and when you have it finished mix the paint-epoxy and apply with your finger. Just try it on a scrap piece first, I've done several handles using clear fiberglass resin, I finish handle, buff, wipe down with acetone and apply resin, let it set just a little while and rub with a small piece of cloth soaked with acetone to smooth, just don't wipe to hard, let set and apply again. Makes for a water proof handle.
I've not tried to color a handle this way, it might work. But fluorescent paint will show better if it is applied to a white or real lite colored surface.

Good Luck

Bill
