I was just looking on Ebay and saw an auction for a Rare Spyderco Military knife. I clicked on it and there is an old Military with orange handles. It has the old style clip and old style blade (grooves on top and bottom). The owner says there are only 8 of them. Does anyone know anything about this knife? I would love to have one but the starting price is $500. The same guy also has a few more "Rare" Spydercos up for auction. All of them start out pretty high.

This I gotta see

Maybe I'm wrong but it looks like he painted it that ugly uneven color. Sal, did you make this??? Why would you only make 8 of a knife unless it was some super-custom type job? Maybe production stopped after 8 cuz the color wasn't coming out right!

The seller is a pawn shop. He indicates he's located in Denver, Co.
I emailed him that I'd like to inspect the knife.
I'll let you know what I hear back.

I've had more paper cuts than cuts from knives, but the knives are QUICKLY gaining!

Looks almost like orange micarta. I'm sure you guys have heard of people replacing the scales on thier knives for a custom appearance. I only say this due to the shine coming off of the scales. I wouldn't drop $500 on this knife. Someone was complaining there was not a FireFighter specific model. Hey Sal. Change the engraving on the blade to "Fire Rescue" from "Military" with these orange slabs, and you've got a new model!!!

That is one UGLY knife!

Well, we did make a few of them with red G10 when we first started making the model. We made a few in blue G10 also. I don't think any were sold. Probably an employee or ex employee. They would not be engraved or marked in any way.
