I'd like to hear the history behind them also.
Pardon any mistakes, 'cause it's been about nine years since I've seen one.
It has a single spearpoint blade that opens by pushing a button near the bolster area. I believe there is a safety that keeps the blade from deploying. It slides back and forth. Button and slide lock are....brass (colored)?
There is another blade shaped like a J that is sharp on the inside curve (can't remember what it's called) for cutting paracord.
Our supply guys had these when I was in the 82nd Airborne. I guess they were supposed to be issued to us, but being buddies with the supply Sergeant was about the only way to get them. We (buddies with the supply Sergeant-of which I was one) beat the crap out of those little knives, threw them into tree trunks and the like when we were in the field, and went back for more after they broke.
I don't remember ever actually carrying one to use, except in the field, or cutting any paracord with them.
Now I wish I had one-just to have.
This has been brought up before, and a search might give some details. Can't remember if it was here, or in the general discussion forum.
Here's one thread I found:

And another-this one has a pic of the knife.
I was wrong, it wasn't a spearpoint, after all.
