Orange zt 0350 warranty question

I recently dulled/snapped off the very tip of my zt 0350 OR. I was wondering if anyone knew if this knife is covered under warranty for a $30 blade replacement since it is a limited production, or if any limited edition zt's are? And if I sent it in for sharpening would that be enough to completely return this point to its original shape.

It looks to me like the tip will look fine after a sharpening. ZT will do what ever you want either way. Just let them know.

I think warrenty is good for sure but they would need to have blade to replace it. I dont believe they keep extra blades in stock long after knife is discontinued or limited run. So if they cant fix it and dont have blade most likely you woukd recieve store credit for value of knife. Its not matter if limited editions/discontinued models are covered it comes down to them still having parts/blades. Cant expect them to hold on to blades and parts for every model

tmio, That's your knife to do as you wish. The damage in the photo labeled "snapped off"?
I'm sorry I just don't see it.
I see a (small/ minor) chipped blade's tip.
The imperfection can / will be removed over a period of time, as you sharpen the blade.

If it's appearance bothers you. Do it in one sitting.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to reprofile your knife if you haven't already. You have to remove a small chip so to me it sounds like a good excuse to me, either way you look at it your going to have to grind away metal for a little while. It's really not worth it to try to get a blade replacement for such a small chip.

That tiny chip can be sharpened out. Or if you are feeling adventurous... you can take it to belt/ disk sander and drop the tip slightly downward.

As far as warranty goes, I don't know. But I am sure as long as they have stonewashed 0350 blades they would be happy to hook one up for you. Worst case scenario it may not have the proper model number on it.

Here is my take on this. Sure, there is a millimeter missing on the very end, but that would likely be logged under "normal wear & tear" and hardly looks like an issue related to manufacturing defects. They will sharpen it for free, and the blade replacements are all sterile from what I recall Jimmer and Thomas mentioning.

Just keep using it! I broke a lot more off my user Blur a year or two ago, and it kept going just fine.

Like others have said, a good sharpening will fix the tip. ZT will do it for you, the cost of you shipping the knife to them. Their warranty service is great and it doesn't matter if its a limited edition or regular production model, as long as they have the parts :)

The blade is nothing special, if I remember correctly. Standard S30V blade, so they will definitely have one of those. It won't have limited marking or anything (blade could be sterile, not all are though).

Either way, the blade is fine. The chip is small and will sharpen right out. No need to waste $30 on a new blade when you can sharpen yourself for free, or have somebody here do it for the cost of shipping and a few bucks. That blade still has a whole lot of life left.

The tip on mine is more deformed than that just from periodic sharpening. I guess I m more concerned with restoring a sharp edge to a work knife than maintaining the original shape of the tip.

Pretty sure the only thing that makes the 0350OR limited is the Orange part. As long as you don't have an issue with the Orange scale, they should be able to replace anything on it. Replacement blade won't say ZT0350OR on it though, it will be sterile.

KAI will have plenty of replacement stonewashed S30V steel blades for your 0350OR. Question is whether they'll charge you the $30 blade replacement fee.

That's happened on both my Adamas and 0200. The damage was fixed after just one sharpening. You're over-thinking this.
