I don't like to pay freight - but - I don't like to buy stuff I don't really have a use for.
Anyhow - what are some things $1 to $30- other than obviously knives - do others add to an order to make the minimum freight charges?

Before all this goofiness - I just waited until I had a couple of knives I wanted - but - with the supply these days, it's become buy it when you see it.

I should add - this is just generalities - nothing specific unless it's the only way to post it.

Usually order some CLP Breakfree. Maybe some sharpening supplies.

If a modest add on isn t sufficient, I still wait, rather than add another blade. If the item sells out before I can get it, I remember that I have several times more knives than I will ever use.

Depending of what business I am dealing with......Wd40, air filters for my truck, deodorant, Tobasco, duct tape, 2 part epoxy, socks, boot laces, chicken bouillon, whole peppercorns,

If you don't already own stuff for knife maintenance (bits, drivers, mat, etc.) then a couple of padded zippered knife cases. Really can't have too many of these and it's good some manufacturers/makers ship their knives in/with pouches.

Though few dealers have good quality USA made padded pouches in Cordura with YKK zippers.

I really like the zippered pouches that Demko Knives use to ship their stuff with. Wish they still did.

Not really to “make freight” in my case, but to get free shipping. Usually I get 550 paracord, tactical patches, a Mora, etc.

Always good to have some 550 and/or micro cord.:thumbsup:

Sometimes the distance to free shipping is measured more by how much I want one slightly larger item. That’s how I ended up with an Eldris, and I am really liking it. Otherwise, I am always running through paracord and I have a weakness for small carabiners. It doesn’t have to be on the floor or in a mess if it’s properly secured with cord and hung from a carabiner. My children are unamused with this idea though.

I'm a sucker for ferro rods, they make pretty good gifts for some people. Ceramic rods are usually pretty cheap, I usually use the white ones.

Tape - flagging, Gorilla, or Nashua duct if they have it, that's good stuff.

plastic drop cloths or 10x10 and smaller tarps of varying thickness.

Garbage bags.

Is this like for groceries on Amazon or what? There should a be a footer showing you some stuff other people like to buy if you need help making up your mind.

It really depends on the vendor and the other type of products and accessories they sell.

OT, but reminds me of "making freight" when I was sending small flat-rate boxes to my son in Iraq. I could pack all kinds of stuff in there. A can of stew, wrench & screwdriver, sample-size bottles of toiletries, socks, etc. In the nooks and crannies I would put a bit of paracord or fishing/sewing line, tape, wire or whatever. Then I'd pour in stuff like loose candy, paper clips, nails or tacks. Whatever filled the smallest voids. It got to be a fun challenge to see how much crap I could get in there.

It's for ordering a knife from Blade HQ.
I want a Leek - but - minimum for free shipping is $99 & the Leek is a little over half of that amount.
I can either:
- pay shipping
- wait for next month so I can order another knife (I'm on a one a month ration orders of she-who-must-be-obeyed)
- order some type of filler items
- stretch it some & order another knife or knives to make the minimum - (SWMBO- hates paying shipping more than she hates me buying more than one item on my ration list - so - I can sometimes sneak that past her)
- Find one local so I don't have to have it shipped - seldom works out well since the local price is usually MSRP w/shipping charges thrown in on top of that & a 10% discount shown if/when I can find the item.

Doesn’t work for everyone, but Moras or Opinels would be great order fillers.

Get it from the site named after one of South America's largest river? I believe free shipping there is 25 or 30 bucks.
