Official Order of Kai Hangout; A Community Reincarnation




Given the closure of the Kershaw/ZT subforum, this is an attempt to recreate an off-topic chat land for the fan group. The majority of the conversation was of a general nature, so it seems fitting that it doesn't go into the General Knife Discussion section. Frankly, we talk more about personal things than knives these days.

So, let's hope this all goes well. This OP will be updated with information on joining.


This is a place for all the members of the Order of Kai subgroup to chit, chat, shoot the breeze (amongst other things), and generally talk about whatever they may choose. The subject matter will vary, but the vibes will remain cool. Why? Because we're all good folk here, who just so happen to have a common problem, addiction to the Kai cutlery.
This is for Order of Kai members only (sort of). If you are a member, please put either a banner or your member number in your signature so that it's easily visible that you're in the subgroup. Thanks!




Feel free to speak your mind, post your photos, ask for suggestions and advice, and just hang out. Obviously the forum and subgroup rules apply, but you're still among friends. This means that different views are welcome and encouraged. If they weren't it'd likely get a bit boring. Cheers mates!​
 
So now the Community Forum is going to be inundated with Order of Kia threads putting more of a workload on the Mods of this forum. Lovely. I soooo look forward to that. :rolleyes:

I don't think it will go that far :thumbup: Most threads concerning are in general. If you feel its not warranted in here just give the word and we'll move it on.
 
The problem is that it hard to see how it will remain Community and not Knife. Does Ken have to make monitoring this a regular assignment?

Go to your profile. On the left, set up a group, all join in and hold your own conversations. Link to it in a sig line if you like.
 
My contention is that the former chat thread was in its majority, non-knife related banter and chatter of a peaceful nature. The chat thread never needed any moderation, and never caused issues within its walls. The idea was that only people who could chat amicably would be allowed.

The only moderation issues happened outside of the thread in areas that concerned Kai itself. The Order of Kai group became a community of a few people who shared a common interest. It seemed appropriate to just hold a chat here.


If it's still an issue in light of all that, then this can easily be closed and we'll move on. No hard feelings either way.

I guess this was a way of showing we haven't gone away and were still taking on members. If as Stick said it is an issue and you feel this isn't the appropriate place we will move on as you said, no worries :)
 
I would suggest following Esav's advice. I don't see this happening in the Community Forum without some sort of constant moderation. We have a very specific set of rules in this forum and rather than have to constantly move threads to an appropriate forum you should start a Group. What may have been acceptable in your old forum may not be appropriate for this forum.

Understood. We do have one set up currently. We'll have a vote and figure something out. Thanks Esav and Ken for your patience.

Short lived indeed, but not entirely unexpected. It was, after all, an ol' college try. No worries. :D
