Ordered a Bagwell, the wait begins.

Well after a long deliberation I finally called Bill Bagwell and put myself on his list. Thanks to all on this forum with all the great Bowie's I knew I had to pull the trigger. I want a fighter so I went with a Hell's Belle. I went with carbon and a cocobolo coffin handle. I plan to carry and use the knife so carbon seemed ideal. The same is true of the coffin handle. Now the wait begins. But that gives me time to work on some blade skills before it arrives.

Thank you to all on this forum for the great info on Bagwell's bowie's. I've wanted a fighting Bowie for sometime and knew from my research here that I was ordering from the right man. Bill was very gratuitous and we talked for almost 15 minutes.

Congrats !
Sounds like you'll be getting a great Bagwell.
A coffin HB with cocobolo and carbon steel would be EXCELLENT..

My wait won't be too long. Oct 2014. Not bad at all for a knife made uniquely for you. Bill mentioned he is really happy with the carbon steel he is currently using. He said it was aggressive in a manner similar to damascus.

Just thought I would throw this out there for any of Bill's fans who haven't noticed, one of the more well-known customs web dealers has offered Bill's knives on their site. Seems I have seen several over past months and they are usually nice and very reasonably priced. This one was offered and sold the other day. Probably one of the best looking stag handles I've seen on one of his knives. But then I realize, unlike ordering, 'it's not made specially for you'.

Kevin that was a great piece

Thanks for posting it

One thing I really like about Bagwell's offerings is they seem to be made with the intent that they will be used. Not that many of the other smith's knives aren't but when it has gold, fossilized ivory and some rare metal in it I would leave it under lights. Plus as Joe Paranee said Bagwell is an icon. His blades just look like something you'd take to a duel in say 1840 or so.

Big Congrats!! There is nothing like the feel of a Bagwell Bowie in motion, and they are truly built with the intention to be used. There are more people than you think who carry a Bagwell, whether you see it or not.

Hello all. This thread is quite ancient but Inthought I'd revive it with a question. I placed an order with Mr Bagwell a while back and haven't. heard back yet. At the time of our conversation he mentioned he was working through some issues which had slowed his pace a little. Does anyone know how he is doing?

Last I heard he was catching up

Call him

He is always great to talk to and he will update you on your order

He was stalled for a long while for winter. It gets too cold to run the forge in his shop, also it's been raining a lot and his sanding belts don't like the humidity. He's been finishing up my knife for a while now. He's been pretty stressed out about being so behind. Thought I'd give you an update.
