Anyone have one? I’ve been waiting to order one since the Delic version came out and I knew an Endura version was inevitable. I have a Delica I reground and lowered the tip on so it would fit back inside the handle. It’s a great edc and I’ve carried it and found the lowered tip useful, so I went all the way.

What did you change? I’ve not seen one in person to tell small details.

The point was originally broader and more rounded. I thought it more like a sheepsfoot than a wharncliffe, so I ground a bunch off it. Ir you search here, there was a thread about it a few months back with pictures of an unaltered one as well.

Hi Me2,

It's a workhorse, but considerably larger than you Delica. What steel is your Delica now, what steel is coming in and how thin do you make it?

I don’t have a wharny version yet but I have and use several Endura models.

I would imagine this knife would destroy yards of cardboard, and work as expected.

I kinda picture this knife with bold colors and in ZDP-189, and in the role of seasoned warehouse person.

It’s a VG 10 version of a Gen 4 style Delica. The Endura is also VG 10. I reground the Delica after 12+ years to thin it down to about 0.015” at the top of the edge bevel, which was rebeveled to 12 degrees per side and finished on the 15 degree per side slots on the Sharpmaker.

That was about a year ago now and I’ve only given it a complete sharpening about 4 times plus the rebevel after the grinding. It’s the same one I’ve posted about on Cliffs forum. It will need thinning again soon.

I almost got a saber ground Endura so I could give it the same regrinding after years of use, but I wanted to try the Wharnecliffe blade shape more.

I also will likely rebevel the Endura to 12 degrees per side. That is my standard now for most folders, except my Voyager, which the Endura is supplementing.

I don’t intend to modify the Endura until it gets really worn down. About all I will do to it is rebevel the edge to about 12 degrees per side and add a Sharpmaker micro bevel at 15.

For what it's worth, I've intended to try a Spyderco wharncliffe in some variation for a while. Then I saw a Bento Box plain edge Lil Matriarch on the forum here used and am using that one now. I really love it and that point just sets into box grooves to open them right up. Really grabby. It may not do everything you would want vs a straight edge but I really do like it and more useful than you would initially or otherwise think. I have always wished the regular Delica blade was more of a Spyderco style clip point (vs. drop point) - now I'm loving the Delica handle with a blade more to my liking even if it isn't the clip point style. Tidings of the season to all, aloha.

Happy Easter. The Endura arrived today. It’s nearly as big as my Voyager, but not as heavy. I was planning to sell the Voyager but I think I’ll keep it now. The Endura is lighter and thinner, but the Voyager is set up for heavier work with a more robust edge angle and bevel.

I took some measurements of the edge. The edge bevel is about 1/16” wide and 0.025” thick at the top of the bevel. That comes out to about 12 degrees per side on the edge bevel, with a little micro bevel maybe. In any case rebeveling to match my usual sharpening methods should be a breeze.

Now let’s talk about the Delica Sal dropped on us above. With the Endura and my Voyager, I have the large side of folders covered. That high hollow Delica sounds like it could give my reground one some competition for pocket time. So 0.25mm is just a shade less than 0.01”. That was the target when I reground my current Delica. That was with the older 17 degree per side (dps) bevel angle. Rebeveling to the 12 dps it is now increased the thickness behind the edge a bit. Has a steel been chosen yet? FWIW I haven’t had any durability issues with mine at that level.

I carried and used the Endura already today for cutting 6 mil poly for a test at work. Cut the poly without a hitch and then added speed holes when my vacuum pressure was too low. I will say it’s size is a bit aggressive for people that don’t know me. It carries very well in work pants and is no more noticeable than the Delica.

Been carrying it for a week now and have nothing but good things to say about it. I’ve used it to break down some cardboard, cut dinner, and all sorts of other things. I can even run with it in my shorts pocket. It has booted my Delica to the packet drawer until I get a chance to regrind it again. I need to finish my sharpening jig soon so I can rebevel that nice straight edge on the Endura. If I do it by hand it’ll be all over.

I’m not normally a fan of steels like that, but if it comes on a new Delica with a grind thinner than mine after regrinding, I’ll probably have to try it.

I did have to touch up the edge on my Endura Wharnecliffe (EW) after some cardboard breakdown. I just used a Medium Sharpmaker triangle free hand to give it a half dozen passes per side and it was almost like new.
