For a long time I only carried knives with 3" blades so when the Anthem came out I didn't give it a second look. Actually last April was my first Benchmade in maybe twenty years. I have a mini grip I carried for a long time that was long before they went to phosphor bronze washers and it was nice but nothing special. In April I bought a mini bugout and after it broke in I really liked it, but thought it was a bit small. So I got a full size bugout which I like much more and opened me up to knives over 3". As you might guess I got an Osborn 940 next
A few days ago I started looking at the Anthem. The main thing reviewers didn't like were the price and the clip shape. I was starting to think for me it was worth the price, but this morning when KSF had closeout prices for $357 I couldn't pass it up. Second hand ones have sold here for about that and this was brand new.
I really like the idea of the new spring setup. While I've never had an issue with an omega spring and my 1990's mini grip still hasn't broken its spring the coil spring seems to be a much better idea. The ease of cleaning and the ball bearings on the Anthem also called out to me. While I don't mind bronze washers, the bearings behind held in place as you slide the blade back into the handle is much easier than cleaning and oiling my other models.
In any case I'm excited and KSF sent me the tracking number a couple of hours after ordering!
