For a long time I only carried knives with 3" blades so when the Anthem came out I didn't give it a second look. Actually last April was my first Benchmade in maybe twenty years. I have a mini grip I carried for a long time that was long before they went to phosphor bronze washers and it was nice but nothing special. In April I bought a mini bugout and after it broke in I really liked it, but thought it was a bit small. So I got a full size bugout which I like much more and opened me up to knives over 3". As you might guess I got an Osborn 940 next ;)

A few days ago I started looking at the Anthem. The main thing reviewers didn't like were the price and the clip shape. I was starting to think for me it was worth the price, but this morning when KSF had closeout prices for $357 I couldn't pass it up. Second hand ones have sold here for about that and this was brand new.

I really like the idea of the new spring setup. While I've never had an issue with an omega spring and my 1990's mini grip still hasn't broken its spring the coil spring seems to be a much better idea. The ease of cleaning and the ball bearings on the Anthem also called out to me. While I don't mind bronze washers, the bearings behind held in place as you slide the blade back into the handle is much easier than cleaning and oiling my other models.

In any case I'm excited and KSF sent me the tracking number a couple of hours after ordering!

I was just looking at that email. When I first bought my Anthem, I was a bit put off by the feel of it...but now I appreciate the same features that I once thought made it feel like a toy. Super light weight, and practically no resistance to blade travel with the lock released. I'm not a fidget flipper; but I can see how the Anthem would be appealing to those that amuse themselves in that manner. Enjoy!

My friend had been raving about his Anthem... finally caved when I saw the email ad. $357 is a great price, and KSF is a great dealer!

And they sure ship fast. It's going to be a Benchmade week for me. Besides the Anthem, I have Rogue CF mini bugout scales and Aimfront aluminum bugout scales also coming at the same time. USPS says they will all show up Friday, but I expect will be sooner than that.

It showed up today and I'm enjoying it so far. KSF must not have sold many of the since it's #475 of the first production run.
There were no problems with centering, grind, or anything else.

The light played strange off the finish, it doesn't look like this under the clip in person.

That’s awesome that you got a First Production model! Mine is regular production but quality is spot on! So happy to get this!

I'm really liking the knife in general. My only complaint is some sharp edges on the axis bar. Not that the axis bar doesn't normally have a little sharpness on my other Benchmade knives. Better to have some bite then to slip off, but on the Anthem it's a little more. Maybe the tool they use to assemble the bar leaves a burr. It's mostly on the clip side.

I like the action on the knife. The coil spring setup makes it feel different than other axis lock knives.
