I've long wondered about these folders and decided a while back I would like to have one in BG-42. Did a quick search online tonight and was surprised to find a few large BG-42 Sebbies. The vendor handles older, discontinued models. I'm sure a lot of you know his website.

So anyway, I girded my loins, whipped out my... credit card, and ordered a large regular with graphics in BG-42. Got it on sale for about $400. Seemed like a fair price in comparison to other sites, especially since it's a discontinued steel and has the computer generated graphics.

Here's the pics from the site. Awaiting arrival now.

Thanks, Fooj. Figured I had little chance of finding a BG-42 blade in new condition. Imagine my surprise when my first Google hit took me to three of them. FWIW, there's still two nice ones left in the "Pheasant Tail Fly" pattern at the same price (also Large, also BG-42). If anyone wants the link, just PM me.

Looking forward to finally holding a Sebbie. Hope all the impressions I've read were/are on the money.

A few quick questions on the graphics & colors for the Sebenza folks...

How well does the color hold up over time? How is it applied? What about the blue thumb stud?

Thanks again. Some nice pictures in that link (and the links it links to).

I'm sure this one will be a user, so some of the anodized color may wear. No worries. That design is pretty basic, so even if it does wear, the knife will still look pretty good. I really wasn't gunning for a knife with graphic. More important to me was the steel, but I like the looks of the "2 High Mix" as it's called.

If I enjoy the large as much as I think I'm going to, I may go for a small Sebbie in S30V at some point. From what I've read, folks here seem to think that the small is better for sheeple environs.

First Busse knives... Now this. :D

you will love it. i imagine it will get a lot of use, at least until the busse folder is released.

Great score. It's pretty, but don't be afraid to use it. I think you'll find that the BG42 holds an excellent edge.
