so a few years ago i start getting into knives...i bought a few moras and those were ok but i felt i needed something more. i saved some money and started doing some intense comparison shopping...it came down to 3 brands, one of them being RAT (this is way before ESEE). i was looking at the 6 and really liked it...alas i spent my money on a different knife which i still like. its not that i didnt like the 6 but i cant remeber why exactly i didnt buy it.

FAST FWD to the present...im back in hawaii and ive been looking at machetes...and i really dug the trams and they are ok but after owning some the difference in metal from blade to blade is apparent. i heard about the Junglas coming out but by then the blade bug had bit me and my ol lady told me no more knives...so no Junglas....then i hear about the lite machete...after a few youtubes and finding a decent price i pulled the trigger!!

its already modded how i mod my trams...so what im getting around to is once i get my Lite Machete ill put it up against my current stable. im really happy to be receiving my first ESEE! expect to hear more! chop chop

oh and id like to get a pack # puh puh please :)

You'll love it. My two favorite companies working together (Condor and ESEE)--it nearly brings a tear to my eye. :D

I am going to order a lite machete from Derrick @ knivesshipfree this evening, I have been putting it off, and I'm ready to do it.

Let us know how you like it when you get it!!

Congrats on your new Lite Machete, your going to love it! I have been nothing but impressed with mine and the micarta handle is extremely comfy.

I haven't gotten the Lite Machete yet, but will soon. The greenery around me is starting to get really thick, and I have plenty to clear with it.

Congrats on the Light Machete!

Make sure you put your RP# request in the sticky thread so they pick it up.

Now that you've "broken the seal" consider an Izula to companion with the machete! :-)

tarditi i did order the izula actually i pre ordered...but the company i ordered from gave my HORRIBLE service so i returned it and had bought something else by then :(

eloreno i ordered from KSF too should be here this week!

They are hard to resist, aren't they. For me its ESEE and Beckers, they are like drugs...

hey gang just wanted to update my thread and add a bit of initial response.

i got my machete the other day ( i got right to the PO at 4pm when they close)...my first reaction was that it was VERY different than the Trams i had...esp the 18" Latin Machete. i did enjoy the width of the scales and i like how micarta feels so thats a huge plus...i realize ESEE wasnt trying to reinvent the wheel on machetes.

oddly enough the balance point on the tram 18" and the ESSE were the same distance on the cutting edge even though the ESEE felt much more handle heavy. it may also have to do with the Trams head is a bit broader than the ESEE and that may make it feel more tip heavy. i also did like the heavy duty cordura sheath it came with beats my mil sheaths that get shredded!

the edge came plenty sharp for a machete but i still had to give it a microbevel with my nicholson file then my DMT coarse then fine flippers....needless to say watch your digits! it did come coated with some sort of enamel...ill see how long that lasts :)

modifications....well im going to start with the handle and taper it around the first finger so its more comfy in a pinch grip which i dont always use but when i do have to i dont want a hotspot. at the moment it does create a bit of a hotspot. and other than that thats IT!!

so next phase is field testing and then a litle 'chete off between the ESEE and the Tram

would i suggest this to someone who wants a long lasting sturdy machete...hell yeah! go buy one!

PS i know this thread is useless without pics...ill get some this weekend :)

The machete is very nice indeed, got mine this evening. Have only been whacking some green vegitatioon thats was in the way. very nice clean cut with the factory edge. Need some more testing and photo's too.

I pulled a piece of paracord through the hole and the belt loops, then a double loop over the handle and a cord lock to lock it to prevent accidently unsheating. Works pretty good.
