Just ordered a BK24 yesterday and I am extremely excited! Not only is this my first Becker it will also be my first D2 which makes it doubly exciting! I almost broke down and went with the 14 instead but I had a gift card and it was really only a $10 difference so I decided to go ahead and see what all the fuss is about! Ive been longing for a Becker for a long time now and the stars finally aligned and it just cant get here fast enough! I know I want to get some scales for her too. Who do yall suggest for something besides the black or orange zytel factory things?

grats, post up some pics when you get it.. The ESEE Izula micarta scales will fit with minimal sanding.. the older version scales, not the model II

Thanks Guys! I just checked the tracking on my package and it looks like I might be getting it tomorrow!! Is there anything out there that is kind of in between the factory and those TKC scales? I dont mind paying a little more than the $13 that the zytel goes for but I dont really want to have to spend as much on the scales as I did on the knife.
Thanks
Brian

Congrats man, photos when it comes in. Sorry, but it's mandatory around these parts.

Ill try to get some pics up as soon as I can. Ill have to get my wife to dig out her camera since my phone broke and the old school thing im using for now has the resolution of an old daguerreotype. But man am I getting pumped, I dont even mind that i have to come to work early tomorrow:D I think it will be here before lunch!

Congrats one the purchase! After purchasing the bk11 a while back, it just made me want the bk24 even more and I finally got mine as a gift yesterday for my birthday. Also, you'll love the D2 steel. not that there's anything wrong with Ka-Bar's 1095 cro-van, but D2 is a little bit better steel. still rusts easy if you don't take care of it but not as much as the cro-van. also, check out some of my threads on the handles i've made for the esee izula and the bk11. many people have made their own as it's super easy. however if you're inclined to purchase some, like mountainmist said, Tommythewho makes some good ones or I could make something for you.

Its here!!! Just got my bk24 in the mail and im absolutely giddy! I cant wait to get out this weekend and break her in! First impressions are very good. I just went out and gave it a little test run on some cardboard and pallet wood and it ate through both of them like butter! Im definitely going to get some scales and I think that ill start with the standard factory ones since its such a good deal for two sets and i still have a little left on a gift card. I think this thing will be just about perfect with those babies on her and hopefully they get here as fast as the knife did! Has anybody ever tried making the lanyard hole wider on the factory zytel scales? I was thinking about trying it since I really like the looks of the ones out there that do have them. Any suggestions are appreciated!
thanks to everyone and especially Ethan Becker for making this whole thing possible!

I like my BK-24 and just installed the ranger green micarta handles from TKC yesterday. I feel that they are a bit pricey, but I really like the product and the fit perfectly without any sanding or adjustment. It's important to understand that these small skeletonized neck knives aren't really meant for big cutting jobs from a comfort perspective. Others my dissagree with me, but that's life. I found applying much cutting force with the steel handles to be painful and the micarta handles are a BIG plus. I believe that I will probably end up installing the factory zytel on the BK-14. As you can see, I'm sold on putting handles on these smallish knives but the TKC handles turn it into a $100 knife. Then there is the sheath issue which I still haven't decided one way or another and that's more money if you aren't satisfied with the plastic factory sheath. I am currently just sliding mine into a back pocket and it works that way.

Yeah I can already tell that Ill be needing those scales but I definitely dont want to double the cost of the knife by adding them so the zytel will work for now. As for the sheath Ill just make a leather one for mine. Ive made about 5-6 sheaths for various knives and have found it to be pretty simple and there are a bunch of good videos on youtube to give some direction to the effort if you wanted to look into that option. Ill need to remember to grab my other gift card tomorrow before I leave the house so I can get those handles on and shape up a sheath sometime next week. Oh man I am so excited!
