Hey guys,

Happy to be posting in the buck section of the forum!

I just placed my first custom order with buck and I think I've cut it a little close to the holiday season :(

I ordered two of these (should be a beatiful setup IMO), I was being greedy and i'll admit one is for myself, but more importantly one is a christmas gift for my grandfather. Looks like custom orders, understandbly, take 4-5weeks to ship, + i'm in Canada. What do you think my chances are of getting it before Christmas? I assume I can't speed the process up at all.

These should make some good users though!

I'd say younwuill have them before christmas, lets hope so anyway.I am in Nova Scotia, and the last box of knives Buck shipped took 7 days, yours need to be built first though, good luck and grandpa is getting a great knife!

Is Buck still shipping FedEx to Canada with those ridiculous 'brokerage' fees?

I'm not certain, but the shipping wasnt cheap it was FedEx, and $30. Hopefully nothing further comes as far as expenses go or I'll be disapointed.

In BUCKS' DEFENCE ON THE RIDICULOUS SHIPPING,There is a good reason they ship using that method, they have lost many knives that were sent to them fir warranty work, when the shipped them other methods, and then they ended up shipping yet another knife at their expense,to reoplace the one thy sent and got lost.

I know this for a fact,as I sent a 880 strider in for repair, and it was repaired and sent back, and it became lost...long story short, the replacement they sent also got lost........so the one they fed ex'd me arrived, that was a lot of money Buck just lost right there.

Wasnt trying to come across the wrong way, or that I wasnt happy :)

I knew the shipping charge going in and happly clicked on the checkout.

Nice looking 110... I hope you get them on time for x-mas... I think you will... ITE ...

As long as Santa dosn't stop off at the St James Gate pub in Banff,I would say your odds are good.:D:thumbup:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...finger grooves. Way to go. Buck does FG very nicely. I love them. They always offer a better grip for my large economy sized fingers. FG make the knife a better user for my hands. And, IMHO, they make the overall knife look rich and well-designed.

haha, not sure if that should be taken as sarcasim or not! From what I've seen anyhow some folks don't like the finger grooves. they fit my hand just fine so i'm excited!

I think the overall black and nickle look pretty nice together, can't wait until I get these in. It'll be my new EDC forsure, for many years I hope.

I didn't sayyou were trying to come across the wrong way, just explaining the reason they use the $30 shipping,i opted to send mine ti my friend in the states for $8.50

I got my custom 110 (domestic though) last friday. Ordered Nov. 1, received Nov. 19. Hopefully you're on the same schedule, with maybe an extra day or two for shipping to NS.

I don't know how shipping to Canada will affect the time frame, but last week in an e-mail from Buck telling about the web specials, they made the statement that if you wanted a knife from the custom shop in time for Xmas, you needed to have your order in by 11/30/2010. It appears that they are confident in their ability to get them made in time, but the shipping to Canada may be the hold up.

Welcome Rez . Don't take Oregon wrong he gets alittle excited . Wow, two custom shop knives ! I think Buck will get them to you on time . Tell, us about your knives . Is that buffalo horn, nickle silver frame and S30V blade ? You need another Grandfather ? I like your taste . DM

Thanks for all the replies!

As for the knives ordered, I would have love them to be S30V but Buck doesnt offer this in a black oxide blade so I settled for the 420HC, and the scales are the Asian Water Buffalo.

I've carried a buck 110 for many years, as does my grandfather, which was likely a influence on me taking a liking to these blades. I had a cheap knife as a kid and after fishing one day we cleaned the fish with his 110, and he gave it to me. Sadly it was lost somewhere along the way when I was a kid. He still carries a 110 today as do I, he recently lost his as well and another family member gifted him a new standard 110. Just to see how excited he was to get another, made me want to order him a custom!

Hopefully he likes my taste, I'm 26 and he's probably hitting his late 70's. He seems to appreciate all blades though, he's taken a liking or commneted on my different EDC's. He loves his buck's and I think he'll be impressed with this setup, and that we'll have matching knives.

Just trying to return the favor he did for me years ago, which got me hooked on knives, and bucks.

Wow! So I just received my tracking information from Buck/Fedex. Ordered on Nov21 and shipped on Dec2nd! Thats only 9 business days and Buck managed to put my two customs together and ship them out! Can't wait to get my hands on these, i'll be posting pics this week once they arrive.

Good for you.

My first thought was that this is a busy time of the year and you'd never get it by Christmas, especially in Canada.

But, the Fedex shipping must mean a great improvement.......there used to be a lot of horror stories about shipping to Canada.

Congrats......I've always thought that combo would make a really great-looking knife.

:)

That's awesome on the shipping. I've sent a few blades out across the USA lately and found the weather in a few parts of the countrty are slowing things down a bit.
